Barry M Princess – Textured Nail Effects

Barry M have released some AWESOME new Textured Nail Effects – this new collection is very similar in effect to OPI’s Liquid Sands and Zoya’s Pixie Dusts. It’s called The Royal Glitter Collection, and consists of 5 colours:Β Duchess, Princess, Majesty, Lady, and Countess. Today I have Princess to show you… my very favourite of the five, it’s a beautiful golden peach colour but in glitter form! I feel like if Models Own Tropical Sun was made into a textured polish, Princess would be it :).

I have to confess, I initially wasn’t too keen on the ‘textured effect’ polishes… I found the first 4 Barry M Textured Effects to be a bit love or hate, but lots of ogling of OPI’s and Zoya’s takes on texture has won me over. I love this frosted glitter appearance – it makes me think of sugar coated cocktail glasses.

Barry M Crystal Glaze

Hey all πŸ™‚ I’ve got a super super pretty flakie to show you! I’ve always loved flakies but lately I’ve started to feel like all the supposedly ‘new’ flakies are just reproductions of previous ones (for example, Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, GOSH Rainbow, Color Club Snow Flakes, Nubar 2010, Essie Shine of the Times… etc.). Even the Zoya flakies weren’t altogether original, and the Nails Inc ones certainly weren’t. So I’m happy to report that Crystal Glaze is probably the most original one I’ve yet seen πŸ™‚ with the possible exception of the (pricey and hard-to-get) Nfu-Ohs :).

As always, flakies are best used as a topper, especially over darker colours as the colours of the flakes will really pop against the dark background. I used 2 coats of the new Barry M Berry Cosmo as my ‘underwear’ :).

Serum No 5 Fame

Hello lovelies! So, The Nail Arcade is midway through its week of being a pop-up UK indie polish e-shop, and I thought I’d show you the other gorgeous polish Rachel sent me to review πŸ™‚ having just been hit by a hefty customs charge myself I feel the timing is apt, I just hope she still has some polishes in stock by Friday which is my payday! They’re selling out fast.

I’ve never tried a polish by Serum No 5 before so I was super excited to try it. They come in two sizes: 9ml (Rachel is selling these at Β£5.55) or 16.7ml (Β£9). Fame is a beautiful holographic topcoat, so basically you can paint it over any colour to turn it into a holographic-effect polish πŸ™‚ you can use one coat for a more subtle holo effect, or build it up for stronger holographicness.

Smitten Polish The Ghost Of Jupiter

Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t posted in a little while. I’ve been doing something VERY exciting *hint*Β πŸ™‚ so my free time, what little I have, has been mostly consumed by that. More news soon ;). A lovely polish friend of mine is also on an exciting polish venture: Rachel, who is the creator of the Winterberry Nail Art Kits I reviewed here, is opening an indie and international nail polish e-shop here in the UK! Yep – no more customs fees, steep shipping charges, fears of losing the polish to customs full stop… etc :). The shop is called ‘The Nail Arcade’. For more info on her shop and updates, click ‘like’ on The Nail Arcade Facebook page. Rachel has kindly sent me two lovely indies to review in the run up to her shop opening on 4th August. One of these is Smitten Polish The Ghost Of Jupiter πŸ™‚

Happy Revolution Kitten Mittens

Hey everyone! Here is a polish I am in LOVE with. Happy Hands, a firm favourite indie brand of mine, and Polish Revolution have collaborated to create the ‘Project Badass’ collection, sold under the brand name ‘Happy Revolution’. TOO cool! The collection is apparently based aroundΒ Always Sunny in Philadelphia. To be honest, I’ve never heard of it before, but I am loving this collection!

It took me a long while to narrow down my favourites (see the full Project Badass Collection), but finally I chose three. (Bloggers, do you ever find that when you’re linking to other sites you fall in love with all the ones you didn’t choose?!). I chose Kitten Mittens, Rum Ham, and Nightcrawlers… all of these are <33333.
