Barry M have released some AWESOME new Textured Nail Effects – this new collection is very similar in effect to OPI’s Liquid Sands and Zoya’s Pixie Dusts. It’s called The Royal Glitter Collection, and consists of 5 colours: Duchess, Princess, Majesty, Lady, and Countess. Today I have Princess to show you… my very favourite of the five, it’s a beautiful golden peach colour but in glitter form! I feel like if Models Own Tropical Sun was made into a textured polish, Princess would be it :).
I have to confess, I initially wasn’t too keen on the ‘textured effect’ polishes… I found the first 4 Barry M Textured Effects to be a bit love or hate, but lots of ogling of OPI’s and Zoya’s takes on texture has won me over. I love this frosted glitter appearance – it makes me think of sugar coated cocktail glasses.
I think this is OPI Jinx’s peach little sister… It’s honestly sooo pretty and flattering to any skin tone. If you weren’t a fan of the Liquid Sands or the Pixie Dusts then you probably won’t be a fan of this, but if you were, you NEED this in your life. It’s such a pretty blend between pink and orange, and the gold shimmer makes it glow. Add in the silver glitters and you have this gorgeous subtle-yet-eye-catching polish. It sparkles in the light, and while it’s not in-your-face, it’s a stand out polish.
Application:
No problems whatsoever. Virtually opaque in 2 coats – you can slightly see my free edge (it’s worse in the pics than in person, honestly!) but I quite like that semi-sheer effect. The glitter is so sparkly that your eyes aren’t drawn to the free edge anyway. It was very easy to apply – much easier than the previous collection of Textured Nail Effects – this polish is probably the thinnest glitter I’ve worked with in terms of consistency, which makes it easy peasy to use. There was no dragging and colour was consistent – i.e. there wasn’t any streaking or patchiness. It dried super quickly too.
You won’t need a topcoat unless you aren’t a fan of the slightly gritty texture. I didn’t actually try it with topcoat but if/when I do I’ll post a picture – I imagine it will look super pretty like a gel-type effect.
Barry M Princess will cost just £3.99 (compared with Zoya’s and OPI’s hefty £10+ price tags) and will be available in Superdrug from 25th September and in Boots from 2nd October.
Will you be picking Princess up? I can honestly say I will be buying backups of this polish – I think it makes a fab party colour, especially for Winter!
