Hey everyone, sorry I haven’t posted in a little while. I’ve been doing something VERY exciting *hint*Β π so my free time, what little I have, has been mostly consumed by that. More news soon ;). A lovely polish friend of mine is also on an exciting polish venture: Rachel, who is the creator of the Winterberry Nail Art Kits I reviewed here, is opening an indie and international nail polish e-shop here in the UK! Yep – no more customs fees, steep shipping charges, fears of losing the polish to customs full stop… etc :). The shop is called ‘The Nail Arcade’. For more info on her shop and updates, click ‘like’ on The Nail Arcade Facebook page. Rachel has kindly sent me two lovely indies to review in the run up to her shop opening on 4th August. One of these is Smitten Polish The Ghost Of Jupiter π
The Ghost Of Jupiter is a deep blue navy base colour with silver microglitter, and yellow, blue and silver circle glitter, with slightly larger silver circle glitter. It’s such a unique combination, and the end result is beautiful π I like how the navy base tints the circle glitter, it makes me think of oceans and the night sky π I did find the polish a tad streaky and a little thick, although I think the two accentuate each other and with careful application they don’t pose too much of a problem.
Application:
The photos show 2 coats, at which the polish is totally opaque and any streaks from the first coat are well covered by the second. It dries quickly enough, but to quite a rough and dull finish. I needed at least 2 coats of topcoat to smooth it out, and even then it was a little on the bumpy side. Β However I also kind of feel like this is what the Barry M Sequin Nail Effects and the Nails Inc Beaded polishes should have come out like. Much better :). Once the topcoat worked it’s magic, the polish looked beautiful.
The Ghost Of Jupiter is among the Smitten Polishes that will be stocked in the Nail Arcade. The other brands so far announced are: Serum No 5, Cadillaquer, Crazy Polish Lady, Franken Frosting and Dance Legend. I’m so excited!!! All of these brands are new to me, which obviously is dangerous bank-balance-wise, but I’m looking forward to being able to try them without the high shipping prices and the long shipping time and the worry of whether we’ll get them… π yay! I’m especially excited because Rachel is such a lovely person and I feel like that has such a bearing on the shopper-experience.
Make sure you ‘like’ The Nail Arcade Facebook pageΒ for updates and enter the giveaway for your chance to win one of three vouchers for the store. You can enter by clicking the Rafflecopter Giveaway icon on the Facebook page, next to ‘photos’ :).
What do you think? Does making indies more accessible make you more likely to try them? It certainly does for me π I’ll be keeping my eyes out for the shop on the 4th August, I have a feeling it will be popular!
