Hare Polish Let Them Eat… What?

So, lovely ladies, today I have a lovely US Indie that I hadn’t worn before today (despite owning it for nearly a year…!). It’s from the Hare The Last Queen of France Collection, from Spring 2013. It’s inspired by Marie Antoinette – I have to be honest, I don’t really know much about her, other than her being a French Queen in the 18th century. (Don’t hate me – I know, I know, I really ought to learn more history!)

What I DO know is that this entire collection is GORGEOUS – I bought seven of the ten released, which is pretty good going for me – usually I a) can’t justify spending that much on polishes and b) don’t like enough of them to buy that many!

I also know that ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ is a rather famous quote often attributed to Marie Antoinette, however (if I’m being pernickity) there is actually no written record of her ever having said the phrase! But anyway, onto the colour 🙂

Valentines Nails

Today I have a beautiful easy nail art look to show you, inspired by the pink-red themes of Valentine’s Day, ready for Friday 🙂 Andy and I aren’t hugely into celebrating it, it’s nice to make a little gesture like a card or a nice dinner together but I think we’re both advocates of showing love for each other every day.  So I don’t have strong feelings on it either way, but I know some love it, and some hate it! 🙂

…I do love any excuse for a seasonal manicure though! 😉 this time last year I did Heart French Tips, and this year I’ve done a cute pink gradient! I actually used a (clean!) washing up sponge for this look, because I didn’t have any makeup sponges, which was HARD! I would definitely NOT recommend using that, it has so many holes that the polish just sinks right in, and barely sponges!

Stellar Come Away With Me (Norah Jones)

Helloooo lovelies! Today I have a really, really special polish to show you. Stellar is an up and coming UK Indie brand run by the lovely Ruth. She kindly sent me two nail varnishes she made for me, as a ‘cheer you up’ pressie – I was definitely smiling when I saw them!

As always with the UK indie makers, this is a truly, 100% unique polish. The name is the song Ruth was thinking of when she created it – I think this is a truly lovely idea, and I’m listening to the song now as I write this! I love the inspiration in this bottle.

No7 Galaxy – Chanel Taboo Dupe

Hello! So today, I have a gorgeous polish to show you. Back last year, photos and blogposts of a pretty beautiful nail varnish started to surface… by the name of Chanel Taboo. It quickly became a cult favourite – everyone wanted it! It was actually only available in the US for quite a while, which I think stirred the proverbial pot here in the UK even more and it became a BIG favourite for Summer/Autumn 2013. I know I really wanted it!

Retailing at around the £18 mark, it was not only hard to get, but hard to justify! So thankfully… (as often happens with Chanel favourites) Boots No7 came up with the perfect dupe.

Maybelline Bronze Me Up

Hey lovely ladies. A slightly late post from me tonight, but hey, it’s Friday! (My life is so wild…!). Maybelline are really starting to pick up on nail trends lately, firstly with the Color Show Street Artist Collection, and now with the Stripped Nudes Collection. I’m not personally a massive fan of nudes (I tend to be strongly of the colourful constitution!) but this polish caught my eye.

I don’t often see bronze glitter in mainstream nail varnishes so I had to try it. It’s a really nice rose-toned bronze too, not stark or harsh. I layered one coat over two coats of Ciaté Angel Wings.
