Rimmel London 805 Grey Matter

This is Grey Matter, a lovely pale grey creme – one coat!
I have three Rimmel London 60 Second polishes, two of which I’ve tried and one which I’ve only tried on my toes. The two I have tried on my nails I have encountered severe tip wear each time I’ve worn them – just to warn you, I don’t know if this is a fault with the line or whether I just happened to pick up two bad bottles. Anyway.
I have mixed feelings about this polish. It boasts the “Xpress Brush 1 Sec Application” which is basically a big thick brush. Now I have quite broad nails, so the width of the brush doesn’t affect my application too badly, but I know a lot of people have thinner nails so it’s something to watch out for. The one issue I really have is that it doesn’t allow for neat polishing near the cuticles, as you can probably see, which would be workable but for the fast-dry qualities of this polish, you really have to work fairly fast!
This is a one-coat application, totally opaque, so I’m very happy about that. The polish is a little on the too-quick side of drying time, but I find that if you just use more polish than you would usually use for one coat, it gives you a little extra time. The polish itself dries evenly – it drags a little during application but the key is to just leave it rather than try to cover it over with more polish (which results in bubbling) and it tends to level itself out a fair bit 🙂
It dries with a nice glossy finish. It’s not Barry M glossy, but it’s certainly shiny enough. I really would recommend using a top coat (although I don’t know if this will help – I haven’t tried it) to try to avoid the tip wear problem, or maybe try coating your tips thinly before applying  a second coat.
Hope this helps someone on the hunt for a classic grey. One other thing to bear in mind is try to minimise air exposure to the bottle, as this seems to dry the polish out more quickly, and application certainly gets more difficult as I get to my second hand! I’ve had this polish since last December and it hasn’t dried out though, so you should be okay.
I often pass this polish up as it always seems a little boring to just have grey on my nails, but it is very flattering and pretty.
Hope you are all doing well, keep me posted! Sorry for yet another waffley post, I’m so bad at getting my point across concisely 🙁 extra points to anyone who’s bothered reading this far!

Updated Nail Polish Collection

This isn’t a showing off post, au contrare, I wish I had more – lol.

I thought that maybe for the benefit of you all I would put up some photos of my current collection, and say for example you want to see a picture of a particular polish I happen to own you can let me know in the comments box. I will also link pictures I have already taken when I name the polishes, if that makes any sense. Basically click the blue words if you want to see the pics.

Grouped by brand.

Here is my storage, I managed to find a large shoebox which will fit perfectly for the next 20 or so polishes, then I suppose I’ll have to move on to bigger and better boxes.
So this is going to seem like a tiny collection to certain among you who will no doubt have about ten times the amount that I do 😛 Believe you me I plan on expanding my collection for ever and always to the extent that income allows. Haha.

Rimmel London 050 Tangerine Queen

This is a lovely bright orange creme polish. To be honest, I’d been putting off wearing it because I was worried about how it would look with my skin tone, but I’m so glad that I took the proverbial plunge (lol), because it really is much prettier than I expected it would be.
Tangerine Queen is a perfect tangeriney, satsuma-y orange colour, (I love to make up words…) it has a lovely glossy finish and good durability. It dries quickly, which is a definite pus because my one issue with this polish is that it takes 2-3 coats to cover all VNL (and staining if your nails are gross like mine). Other than that, no complaints! This is the second time I’ve worn this one in 2 weeks which says something, given how much I like to change my nails!
UK readers: I picked this polish up in Poundland (for… guess how much… £1), which considering the price of  Rimmel in Boots, Superdrug, Tesco etc shaves a good £2 off it, hence why I bought it in the first place because I never considered myself as a good candidate for pulling off orange!
Hope you are all well, a quick photo post is coming up to show you the lovely sunset Andy, my brother and I experienced on our bike ride last night 🙂

Easter Mini Egg Nail Art

Gigantic jar of mini eggs and choccys – yum!
What I used:
– Rimmel Stronger Double Duty Base Coat
– Barry M 307 Lemon Ice Cream
– Revlon 044 Blue Lagoon
-Revlon 040 Fuchsia Fever
– GOSH 571 Wild Lilac
– Barry M 310 Mushroom
– Rimmel Lycra Pro Matte Finish
– Cocktail Stick
You can probably guess that I did 2-3 coats of each colour, and used Barry M’s Mushroom on the end of a cocktail stick to make the brown dots, then finished it off with a coat of Matte top coat. 🙂
I love Mini Eggs, particularly the colours and matte-like finish of them, has always reminded me of Easter.
Reviews of the polishes shown will be coming up 🙂
I hope you all have a good one 😀

Nail Polish Collection As Of 13th January 2011

Considering I only had about 4 nail polishes at the beginning of December… I have gone a bit nail polish mental! 🙂 Maybe it’s just the colours, I hate routine and since buying/receiving all these polishes I have been changing them every day lol – until my nails split at which point I realised I should really consider the health of my nails before abusing them 😀 they are happy nails now though. So here we go:

If you haven’t heard of ChitChat, it’s from Poundland (don’t judge me ;)) they aren’t actually that bad, they have a much nicer smell than most nail polishes (though I don’t know whether that means they are cheapie harmful fumes!!!) and they do look really lovely over the top of some polishes. They are too sheer really to wear alone, and I wouldn’t say they are of great staying quality! Hence why I would only use them over the top of another polish.

The two unknown polishes are from a makeup box given to me for my birthday last year, which I would definitely recommend. It isn’t tested on animals (BUAV approved), and the eyeshadows particularly are of fairly good quality considering the price. It’s called PrettyPink, and is (or was!) from Argos.
In total I think I have 42 coloured polishes and 2 Topcoat Basecoats, and I don’t think I’ll be stopping any time soon!
