Nail Art Inspired By Nature #1

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a great day. I feel like it’s a while since I really got down to doing some nail art, and ‘nail art inspired by nature’ is something that I’ve had in the back of my mind for a long time. There’s so many beautiful colours and patterns that you can see in the natural world that can be just breathtaking, or funky, or plain weird… I decided to ease myself into it with a simple one, for today.

I recently saw a picture of a baby red-bellied short-neck turtle which really stood out to me as a pattern and a colour combination I’d never really thought of. I couldn’t say how colour-accurate the original image is but it got me thinking, and I ended up with this:

Rimmel Rita Ora Collection Review & Swatches

Hey everyone! Bit of a long post today, so grab a cuppa! Rimmel were kind enough to send me the whole new Rita Ora Collection, which is super duper exciting for me!! Rimmel are always fantastic for creating staple shades which look great alone or as underwear for a glitter, so they are must-haves in my eyes, and this collection is no exception. I have to confess to not knowing a lot about Rita herself, other than that she’s a British singer songwriter with a much-envied style! She apparently created these shades and named them which is pretty cool ๐Ÿ™‚ the names are a little risquรฉ, but you know how I like raunchy polish names! Such fun, in the words of Miranda’s mother!

These polishes are all in the 60 seconds range, which means they should be touch dry within 60 seconds. Great if you’re in a rush, as long as it does actually dry in that time! I have to mention the packaging quickly – I just adore the pop-arty stamps on the brush handles, and I especially love the fact that the background on each stamp matches the colour of the polish in that bottle, as well as the nails on the stamps too… it’s the little things!

Penguin & Snowman Nail Art

So at Christmas more than any other time of year, all the nail brands start retweeting and sharing all our festive manicures and nail art. Yes I have been sucked onto the bandwagon, mainly because I love Christmas, I’ve regretted not doing it previous years, it’s cute, and I haven’t done nail art in ages!

Growing up my favourite animal was a penguin (they are still in the top running) and I always had a trademark simple penguin drawing I would put everywhere. I love them, I think they are super cute little animals ๐Ÿ™‚ (birds?). And snowmen… what better to get you in the festive mood!

This is a super easy design to create, it definitely looks better in person than in these photos but I’ll explain to you how to create the designs step-by-step.

Rimmel Space Dust Total Eclipse

Hey chickas, sorry I’m a bit late with today’s post, I’ve been mostly scheduling my posts all this month so I got complacent and forgot I hadn’t scheduled one for today! All my photos are at Andy’s and by the time I realised I hadn’t scheduled one I was home so had to sort out how on earth to write a post for today eek! The day is saved by Andy who sent some images over for me (trying to explain on the phone to a male that I want ‘the Rimmel ones… yes, the black textured ones… the ones that say RIMMEL on the bottle…they don’t have a name yet I haven’t edited them…’ etc. is harder than I imagined!

Also please don’t mind the minor font change in the images, I have a new laptop (hence no photos) and last time I tried to download my font I accidentally downloaded a sh..load of freeware and spyware so I need to wait until Andy can help me lol! (Sorry!)

Rimmel came out with their own take on textured polishes – the Space Dust Collection – back in the summer. There are five polishes in total, two of which are very unique to me, three of which are the now-standard purple, silver and beige. I loved Total Eclipse from the instant I saw the bottle. Don’t be deceived by the slight purple duochrome effect you see in the bottle – it’s not there on the nail. However this polish is fab and definitely one of my favourite textured polishes!
