Rimmel Pear Drop

Hello lovelies, I have a super spring polish for you all today! I love this polish, it’s so fresh and minty. However if you aren’t a fan of frosts, look away now!

Pear Drop makes me think of sweeties, it’s probably because of the name (although I’ve never seen a bright mint green pear drop!) but it makes me think of Fairy Satins and those other satiny-finished sweets that looked like square pillows… anyone know what I mean?! I just spent about half an hour trying to find them on Google to no avail! Anyway, before I get stuck on yet another tangent…

Rimmel Baby Bellini

Rimmel recently released three gorgeous new ‘Cocktail Colour’ nail polishes, all of which are glassfleck-shimmers, in purple (Baby Bellini), pink (Hawaiian Punch) and orange (Shirley Temple). These are all STUNNING, although I warn you, you really really need a topcoat to realise the polish’s full potential!

Rimmel London Movie Star

So here’s where I’m going to get caught out using older pictures! In my last post, my nails were as short as they are now, as I had a practical exam (which I passed by the way – woo!) and the eagle-eyed among you will notice that my nails are long in this post! Well it’s because I’m a bad blogger and I’m backlogging. Sorry! πŸ˜›

I bought this lovely one last year, at the beginning of December, and it pretty much marked the beginning of my interest (read: obsession) with nail polish!

Movie Star is one of those colour-shifters… in most lights it looks a very pinky-red, then occasionally it will appear a very orange toned red which makes no sense! It’s kind of a foily-glitter polish, certainly very interesting and quite unique. What I like about it is that it’s festive but without being quite so ‘out-there’ as a true glitter. Also it is a lot more easy to apply and remove than a true glitter!

It was practically opaque in one-coat, but I added a second just to be sure. As it’s a 60-second polish, surprise surprise, it dried really quickly. Usually super fast dry-time = streaky draggy mess, but Movie Star has that lovely foily consistency which doesn’t seem to drag, so it’s a big bonus!

The brush is quite wide, which for me is a bonus as it means less dabbing around trying to cover my whole nail, but I know a lot of people with slimmer nails will find it a pain.

All in all I LOVE this polish, it’s so pretty and eye-catching without being as OTT as glitter (can’t believe I am saying this, as a full-time glitter addict!) and it’s lovely for Christmas time and New Years!

I’ve finished my first semester now, exciting! This means I will hopefully have a lot more time to blog for 3 weeks, before going on placement for 6 weeks. I’m very very happy at the moment, things are going wonderfully πŸ™‚ Hope you are all feeling as good as me! Oh and my GlossyBox came on Thursday, my favourite box so far πŸ˜€ you will be seeing a very special something from it on my blog in the next few days!

Have you entered my giveaway? Only 2 days left now!

OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air

It’s green, it’s glittery, what’s not to love?! This was another of my ASOS purchases… the first being Rainbow Connection.

I know there’s been a lot of controversy on the blogosphere about OPI releasing too many glitters in the Muppets Collection, and that the glitters released do not give opaque-enough coverage on the nail. Well personally, I love it that way πŸ˜› Layering ahoy!

I’m getting more and more glitter-crazed by the day… what are your thoughts on the matter?

These pictures show two coats of Fresh Frog of Bel Air, layered over Rimmel Forest. Isn’t the last photo stunning? It shows the way my nails looked in bright artificial light (e.g. Tesco) and what I can only presume they would look like in sunlight, only we don’t have ANY! The rest of the photos show how they looked in natural light.

I don’t think that this polish can easily be worn alone as an opaque polish… it would take quite a few coats! I can assure you that it looks incredible layered over black though, and I will try more combinations shortly πŸ˜€ The glitter is quite sparse. Over on Swatch and Learn there are some lovely pictures of Fresh Frog of Bel Air worn alone.

The polish dries very quickly, as with most glitters, which is so handy if you’re just topping up a tired manicure after a few days wear as you’re rushing out the door! I love these polishes for the nights where uni has exhausted me or I’m just snowed under with work and I don’t have time/energy to totally repaint my nails. The nice thing about layering it is that it doesn’t result in the polish being so thick on the nails that it just pings off whenever you put on a woollen cardi!

So what do you think my lovelies? I am madly in love with this polish, I’m so very happy with the Muppets glitters!

Before you go – have you entered my giveaway?

Rimmel London Forest

Hello lovelies!

I found this lovely green in Poundland, nearly a year ago now, for Β£1 – so keep your eyes out, they sometimes have some really lovely ones! My local Poundland now has a lot of ancient Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps polishes too, though most of them look separated out so I haven’t been tempted yet…!

The first two pictures shows what the polish looks like in sunlight and artificial light. The third picture shows the polish as it appears in grey, wet, windy British daylight!

Forest is basically a dark grey-green jellyish base, jam-packed with green shimmer.Β The polish is opaque in two coats, occasionally three but there’s not much in it. It dries really quick which is perfect for someone like me… I’m so impatient with waiting for my nails to dry! It has a weird, almost rubbery finish to it, as shown in the third picture, which I find quite awesome but I know it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea!

Personally I love this colour for Winter particularly, it’s so Christmassy and perfect for the cold Autumn/Winter months! I also used it as a base for a certain OPI Muppets polish πŸ˜‰ as you will see next post – the combination is perfect!

Sorry for the irregularity in my posting, I genuinely have so much going on right now with uni and basically getting enough sleep to survive the next day haha… early mornings are so not for me! I found out where my placement is, it’s commutable which is fab and so much cheaper for me. I’m really excited about it! Just have to hope I pass my practical exam in order to go on placement!

I hope you are all lovely and well πŸ™‚ have you entered my giveaway yet? I can’t believe it’s December already… only 17 days left til the giveaway, thinking I may have to extend it as only 3 people have entered so far! Haha.
