Maybelline Street Art Boom Box Black

Hey chickas. Today I’m sticking with the Maybelline Street Artist collection because Alley Attitude really wowed my pants off, so I just HAD to try this one! I have to admit, I wasn’t keen on this one in the bottle, but I felt like it might look pretty on the nail… so I picked it up anyway. I wasn’t disappointed!

My big challenge with this polish was finding the right ‘underwear’ to go with it. I didn’t fancy white or grey but that left a limited amount of colours that this polish would look nice with. I opted for bright pink in the end, so here I am showing 1 coat of Boom Box Black over 2 coats of Ciaté Kiss Chase.

Maybelline Street Art White Splatter

Hey chickas, today I have a new glitter topcoat by Maybelline to show you. It’s from the Street Art collection (although on the bottle cap it says ‘Street Artist’). After hearing a few fellow nail addicts talking about these I had a little wonder in Superdrug. There seems to be four on offer here, although I’ve seen more selection in the US (as always!).

I am certain that Maybelline have been taking tips from indies. First there were the Polka Dots, and now there’s these glitter topcoats that look suspiciously indie-like! (If so, that’s fab for all of us indie makers!). What do you think? Today I have ‘White Splatter’ to show you 🙂

Hairy Legs London Rainbow Troll

I’ve spent the last few days attending interviews and generally wearing office-friendly nail polish, so today it was high time I injected some colour into my life! It came in the form of Hairy Legs London Rainbow Troll. This polish is normally not something I’d choose for myself, Sanita who owns Hairy Legs London added it in as an extra when Royal Mail played up with the postage of Tainted Love (so kind of her!) and to my surprise, I ended up loving it!

You may be old enough to remember the little troll dolls of the 90s, and apparently the 60s, 70s and 80s too (I never knew they existed before the 90s until I did a little reading!) I personally never collected them but around about 90% of my friends were OBSESSED with them! Rainbow Troll is apparently inspired by the Russ Good Luck Rainbow Troll. I’ve Googled it excessively and it still comes up with troll dolls so I *think* that is what they are, hehe! Please correct me if I’m wrong!

China Glaze Boo-gie Down

So this year China Glaze have been a bit boring for me, the last full collection that really excited me was the Cirque du Soleil collection back last December! However I have been picking and choosing one or two from each collection as and when, and here is my choice from the 2013 Monsters Ball Halloween Collection :). I have to admit this isn’t normally a ‘me’ type of polish but something about it really drew me in – I’m glad it did because it turns out this is a very versatile glitter. You can use it with a dark base to look autumnal/wintry, or you can use it over a brighter base to look edgy and modern. I love it!

I’m pretty pleased with this combination, I would never have picked the two polishes out to wear together but I just happened to spy Boo-gie Down whilst looking for a topper for the purple base (Nella Milano Violet – blogpost soon!).

Barry M Tinsel Town (Boots Exclusive Limited Edition)

Bar glitter. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people are on the fence. Count me as on the fence – I love it as long as you don’t layer it up like hair!! Barry M have definitely dealt us the generous hand when it comes to bar glitter this year. We had five Confetti Effects, and now we have two LE bar glitter beauties in Boots and Superdrug. (I have both because I am a long-accepted nail polish hoarder and obsessive! The second I heard these were out I trotted down to Boots & Superdrug!). I’ve seen a fair few blogposts about people hating the look. And plenty of people who love it. I honestly think this one is totally dependent on what you pair it with. If you pair it with shimmer it’s going to clash. If you pair it with anything that doesn’t go with either green, blue or red, it’s going to clash. And if you layer it IT WILL LOOK LIKE HAIR! I promise you!

I decided to pair it with my autumn fave: OPI In The Cable Car-Pool Lane. Burgundy – I tell you, you cannot go wrong with burgundy!!
