Models Own Swan Speckled Eggs

Hey chickas! I have another Models Own Speckled Eggs polish to show you today! So far I’ve shown you Magpie and Dove. I have to confess to never having seen a lilac swan or swan egg, but hey, it’s a pretty colour so I’ll go with it 😉 I’m really enjoying this collection, it’s just so springy and I can’t get enough! I mentioned before about how I’m really into pastels at the moment, so maybe that’s why!

This is a nice crelly-ish lilac filled with three sizes of matte black hexagonal glitter, as with all the Speckled Eggs polishes. I found this formula to be more sheer and watery than the others, although somehow thick? Not sure how that happened!

Application:

Swan takes 2-3 coats for opacity– I say 2-3 because it really depends on streakiness. I found this polish the hardest to apply so far – this is my 3rd attempt at swatching and still isn’t great, but I thought it would be better to show you an accurate image of how it applies. I found it to be quite thick and hence quite streaky and draggy. I also found it hard to work with in that I couldn’t manipulate it that easily – it was quite tricky to try and get an even line by the cuticle, and to not paint on my skin around my nail, and being that it’s packed with glitter cleanup is more tricky. It dries a little on the slow side and to a slightly dull, bumpy finish so I’d definitely recommend using a quick-drying topcoat.

I have to admit, I am hesitant to use this polish again. I think if I do it will definitely be over a base colour rather than layering up thick coats. I do love the final finish but I haven’t had one so tricky to work with in quite a while, probably not since Illamasqua Perseid.
