BeautyUK Turquoise Shimmer

It’s been a while – I’ve spent the last couple of days converting my blog to WordPress, which I haven’t completely managed to do (I still can’t figure out how to redirect all my followers – anybody see this in their Blogger/Google Reader feed?) but on the whole I like WordPress a lot more than Blogger.

Anyways, here is a beautiful BeautyUK polish for you 🙂

So, this beautiful polish comes at the delightful price of £1.99. It’s a lovely sea-green shimmer, leans more green than most ‘turquoises’. It has a wonderful texture once dried, almost rubbery, quite unlike any other polish I’ve tried. It dries with a glossy shine.

However, I did require 3-4 coats to cover up the VNL, which was still slightly visible in some lights. From a distance though this isn’t noticeable. It dried lovely and quickly and didn’t need a topcoat, so this one’s a winner with me, not to mention it’s holy grail beauty 😀 it’s a very flattering but eye catching polish, I’m so pleased I bought it after eyeing it up in Superdrug since like, forever!

I have absolutely no idea whether my old readers will see this but I really hope you do. I’m still quite confused with WordPress, for instance, I had to resize all my photos to put them on here, although I’m sure they have a plugin for that. Let me know what you think if you can still remember my old blog layout!

Hope you are all well my lovelies, I’ve just received about half of my OT textbooks so I’m super duper excited about that, especially the anatomy & physiology books because I just LOVE anatomy and physiology 😀

Models Own Pro Limited Edition – Swan Lake

By the time you’re reading this I will *hopefully* be on the lovely island of North Uist, Scotland 🙂 as it turns out I’m a crap blogger and never managed to get round to the scheduled posts and I don’t get how to do the whole guest blogging thing. Well anyway, who knows, I may even have 3G connection on North Uist. It’s weird writing this while trying to keep in mind that you’ll be reading it next week. It is, by the way, currently Thursday 28th July. Anywho, I’m very sorry to be disappointing but I thought I’d break up those long 2 weeks away with this post.

Enter Swan Lake!

If you look at the bottle in the photo below, this was not what I paid £8 for at 3 coats!!!
As you can hopefully see, the bottle colour is *very* misleading, I was expecting a lovely taupe-y shimmer. Nevertheless it inspired this gradient mani.
I have to say, it does have a lovely unique finish even despite the sheerness. You know when you look into a lake or into the sea in the sun and it glistens in a lovely fluid, silvery way? Well it’s like that. It’s beautiful. Still I was disappointed with the price!
Anyway, layered over the top of other colours it looks absolutely beautiful. It dries quickly, and is fairly easy to control. I’m not a fan of the square lid, it doesn’t hinder the application too much but for a ‘Pro’ polish you would expect something a little easier to work with. The glittery shimmer spreads evenly across the nail so that isn’t a bother.
Overall I have very mixed feelings about this polish. For my first Models Own Pro polish, for the price, I can’t say I’m that impressed. However, the glistening effect of the polish has won my heart over. Just beware of this one if you were expecting a more opaque colour. Personally I would expect at least a hint of the taupey brown jelly base on the naked nail but apparently not – I only saw this when it was put over the Barry M Matt White!
Hope you are all well, and I’ll be back in a week!

Updated Nail Polish Collection

This isn’t a showing off post, au contrare, I wish I had more – lol.

I thought that maybe for the benefit of you all I would put up some photos of my current collection, and say for example you want to see a picture of a particular polish I happen to own you can let me know in the comments box. I will also link pictures I have already taken when I name the polishes, if that makes any sense. Basically click the blue words if you want to see the pics.

Grouped by brand.

Here is my storage, I managed to find a large shoebox which will fit perfectly for the next 20 or so polishes, then I suppose I’ll have to move on to bigger and better boxes.
So this is going to seem like a tiny collection to certain among you who will no doubt have about ten times the amount that I do 😛 Believe you me I plan on expanding my collection for ever and always to the extent that income allows. Haha.

BeautyUK – Slate – No.50

Just a teaser of what’s to come 😉

BeautyUK Glam Nails in Slate. This is a gorgeous deep grey. You know how slate tiles have that hint of purple in them? This polish has that, I love it 😀 Perfect name for this colour. One thing I’ve noticed is that it dries slightly darker than its bottle colour, so watch out for that.

This is opaque in 3 coats, which is a little more than I’d like but I’ll let this one off as it dries so fast the 3rd coat is on in the same time as a 2nd would be with any other polish. Perfect glossy finish, I can’t fault this one. Formulation was a little draggy, but if you’re quick it flows perfectly.

Hope you’re all well, hopefull I’ll have the Models Own Smash-Up post up by tomorrow!

BeautyUK – Coral Surprise – No.33

This is the coral I have been looking for for so long! Beautiful application, as ever, no complaints. This polish was a little bit sheer at 2 coats but a 3rd sorted that out. Any VNL you can see is actually the staining on my nails which for some reason showed up on the camera but not in real life :s

Gorgeous gorgeous colour and perfect for this lovely sunshine we’ve been having here, sorry there are no sunshine photos but often by the time I get round to taking the photos it’s after dark 🙁

Dry time was fab with this polish, really quick but not too quick (by that I mean that it didn’t dry while applying!)

Absolutely in love with this colour, a beautiful orangey red, a lovely way to brighten up a dark outfit but not so bright that it gives you lobster hands/looks tacky. Love it. Again, at £1.79 (although Superdrug charged me £1.99!) this is one where you just can’t go wrong.

Hope you’re all well, sorry I’ve been absent a lot only I’ve just been so busy, on top of being absolutely knackered just doesn’t help! I have some lovely ones coming up though, and another BeautyUK polish so watch out 😉
