Barry M Satsuma Gelly - Imagination In Colour

Barry M Satsuma Gelly

Here is another Barry M Gelly Nail Paint – this one is called Barry M Satsuma Gelly Nail Paint 7. They will be released on the Barry M website on 21st September26th September in Superdrug and 3rd October in Boots. They will cost £3.99 each.

As I mentioned in my review of Barry M Blueberry, the ‘gelly’ title refers to the gel-like nature of the polish, like Shellac, Axxium, Gelish etc., meaning they are high gloss and very opaque.

Satsuma is a gorgeous red-toned orange – it’s definitely more red than Barry M Block Orange, though it still maintains enough vivid orange tone to avoid being a coral. It is a touch more orange than my photos show (for some reason the colours are a litte washed out – sorry). It’s very shiny, living up to the ‘Hi-Shine’ claim on the bottle. Again, the most noticeable difference is in the packaging, with the cap being silver as opposed to black, and the writing being silver as opposed to yellow. The best thing about this polish is how saturated the colour is – I’m used to oranges being colours that never normally get to full opacity, so Satsuma is a big win on the opacity front!

Application:

Satsuma was a touch on the thick side, but as with all Barry M polishes, it has a self-levelling property which will even out the finish so don’t worry too much about it looking uneven! It dried quickly which is always good, and of course it is very shiny.  The polish was pretty much opaque at 1 coat – it’s definitely a creme, not a jelly. I only added a 2nd coat as my nails are very stained due to a yellow polish I used earlier in the week and the stain does show through slightly. I included a photo of Satsuma at 1 coat for reference:

What do you think? Will you be getting any of the Gelly Nail Paints? The line consists of 9 colours: Plum, Blackberry, Watermelon, Blood Orange, Blueberry, Prickly Pear, Satsuma, Grapefruit and Pomegranate. I’m wearing Satsuma with a bright cobalt blue cardigan – I love how it pops against the blue!
