Today I have another few Barry M Nail Paints to show you all. Barry M have been super busy and have brought out a LOT of nail polishes in the last few weeks – today I am showing you the new Autumn Silks / Winter Silks which are: Forest Silk, Orchid Silk and Poppy Silk. The idea of the nail effect is to look like the material silk (which I think it does quite well!).
I have to confess I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first Silks (released earlier this year) which were all pastels – but these three are just gorgeous! I couldn’t decide which one to put first because I love them all a LOT! Because these all dry to a satin-matte finish, I decided to do one shot of them in their ‘natural state’, and one with topcoat (because they look amazing with topcoat!).
Barry M Forest Silk
Forest Silk is a beautiful deep teal green. It’s packed with silvery shimmer which gives it depth when it dries matte, but makes it sparkle like crazy when you add topcoat! In the bottle you will see what looks like a purple duochrome, however on the nail it’s barely there, if at all. Still gorgeously pretty though! I’ve worn this twice already in the two weeks I’ve owned it.
Application:
Forest applied like butter – the formula is fantastic and is very nearly opaque at 1 coat, but I think you need a second coat just to keep it all even. It dries quickly and obviously, to a matte finish.
Barry M Poppy Silk
Poppy Silk is a gorgeous magenta red shimmer – it again dries matte, and like Forest, it’s densely packed with a silvery shimmer that sparkles like crazy with topcoat! Believe it or not I’ve actually worn this one 3 times in the last 2 weeks! I love it!
Application:
Again this one applied like butter, opaque at 2 coats and dries quickly to a matte finish. Perfect!
Barry M Orchid Silk
Orchid is a vibrant but deep purple shimmer – it doesn’t have the same kind of shimmer as the other two though. The shimmer is very fine, so the finish is quite different. There also seems to be a sporadic smattering of pink shimmer in there too which adds interest! I’ve worn this one once – it’s very pretty but if I had to skip one of the trio, it would be this one.
Application:
This one was thinner than the other two – it’s semi-sheer, so I found I needed 2-3 coats for full opacity. It dries fairly quickly, to a nice matte finish.
Overall
My two must-haves are of course Poppy and Forest – but I think the three work really well together. I much prefer these to the original Silks, I might even have to get backups at this rate!
