Hello everyone! I have been sent another lot of the lovely Stellar Nail Polishes by my amazing friend Ruth, to review. You may have seen them on my blog before, and this time, I have the new Christmas collection to review! I think these are probably my absolute favourites so far – they are so Christmassy and attractive!
O Holy Night
This is my absolute favourite of the collection, it’s a clear base full of different shades of gold hexagonal glitter. Some are more champagne-gold, while others are rich and orangey. This is one coat over Ciaté Power Dressing. This combination is just so wintry and gorgeous, I’ve worn it twice in the last two weeks!
Application: O Holy Night is very glitter-dense, so you will only need a single coat if you’re using it as a topper. It applies evenly and with no issues at all. It’s pretty much perfect! Dries slightly matte – add topcoat for a nice shine.
Fairytale of New York (The Pogues)
This is a beautiful purple jelly filled with blue, purple and pink microglitter, and some holo glitter (although I’m not sure which ones are the holo ones!). This is MEGA reflective – I’m talking serious serious sparkle!! For me this is the perfect type of glitter nail polish.
Application: For me, this nail polish is totally opaque at just 2 coats – surprising for a jelly! It dries quickly and to a semi-glossy finish. Add topcoat for optimum shine. It’s a little thick but that actually benefits the application on this one! The glitter applies evenly so no fishing or placement is required.
Silent Night
This is another glitter topper – with a clear base, filled with metallic gold glitter and metallic green squares – I’m sure I can see blue in there too but I can’t work out if that’s just a reflective flash from the green glitter or not! This is one coat over HJ Manicure Thunder Storm.
Application: This again was lovely and dense in glitter, so you’ll only need one coat as a topper. It applies evenly and dries semi-shiny, so I’d recommend adding a topcoat to get it really glossy. It dries nice and quickly.
Walking In The Air
This is a gorgeous deep navy jelly, with large holographic moons and white snowflakes. It’s not often you see a nail polish with only large glitters in and no ‘filler’ smaller glitters, so this one has extra interestingness! I love the finished look.
Application: This polish is very very thick, which is perfect for the large glitters, to keep them in place. It does make application a bit tricky though, so in future I’d apply one coat over a dark blue (like Ciaté Power Dressing) for sake of ease. It’s not a problem if you clean up though. The size of the glitters mean they stand up off the nail a little, but as long as you seal them in with topcoat it’s not a problem (and doesn’t bother me at all personally). I did have to fish a little for the glitters but that’s okay because I prefer placing them myself anyway. The polish dries solid very quickly, and to a gorgeous glossy shine! As I say, the finished look is just gorgeous, so it’s worth any application problems for me.
*This nail polish will undergo a reformulation due to a bleeding glitter before going on sale*
Rockin’ Robin is a lovely reddy-orange jelly base filled with large red hexagons (I believe these are the bleeders so the only thing to change will be that these will be darker), red bar glitter, orangey-red smaller glitter and green squares. Very Christmassy!
Application: This applies very well – the glitter is dense so you only need 2 coats for full opacity. I would probably apply one coat over a similar colour in the future to keep the thickness down, as it has so much glitter! (Which is a very good thing!) It applies evenly and dries quickly to a slightly textured finish. I used 2 coats of topcoat to get it even.
Winter Wonderland
This is a glitter topcoat – a clear base filled with pastelly pink and blue flakes, and large lilac, red, and blue holographic circles, as well as black stars. It’s a really unique combination! This is one coat over HJ Manicure Thunder Storm.
Application: The application of this was pretty easy – I did have to fish for the larger glitters, but as I said before, I prefer to place them individually anyway so that’s not something that bothers me. It otherwise applies evenly, dries quickly and to a matte-type finish. Add topcoat for full shine.
Overall
I absolutely love this collection – every single one is totally unique! My personal must-haves are O Holy Night, Fairytale of New York and Silent Night 🙂 but all are beautiful! You can buy Stellar Nail Polishes from their etsy store here, for £6.00 each (which I think is very reasonable since each one is handmade with love! 🙂
Let me know which are your favourites! 😀
