Hello everyone! How are you doing? I’m afraid I’ve been super duper busy the last few weeks – my job is a bit hectic and has involved a fair bit of travelling back to my home town, hence the lack of posts. However I was kindly sent two of the nail polishes, of my choice, from the new OPI Nordic Collection – which has given me a good impetus to start blogging once more! I confess that I’ve been ogling these for a while.
OPI Do You Have This Color In Stockholm?
This is a gorgeous blurple creme nail polish – quite unique to my collection, although I am increasingly drawn to this colour. It’s a little bit more saturated and ‘deep’ in person, but that never quite translates on camera. It reminds me a lot of Barry M Indigo but it’s a shade or two lighter, and also a bit more muted (where Indigo is rich and purple). PeachyPolish actually did a great comparison of the two here.
It applies very smoothly and evenly; the above photo is at two coats. It has a slightly jellyish consistency but doesn’t compromise on opacity. It dries fairly quickly and to a slightly dull finish – definitely use topcoat for the full effect.
OPI My Voice is a Little Norse
This polish consists of a tonne of holographic silver glitter suspended in a sheer dark grey jelly base. It’s really interesting – not something I’ve really come across before. The base is sheer enough that if you are layering, it lightly tints the base colour but doesn’t change it wildly. It’s also opaque enough to be buildable – as you can see in the above photo, where I am wearing it alone at 3 coats, with topcoat.
In terms of application, My Voice is a Little Norse is a touch on the thick side (but that’s fairly normal for a glitter). It doesn’t hinder application too much but does mean that it’s harder to ‘stay in the lines’, as it were. It dries quickly as long as you leave a few minutes in between coats. It dries to quite a dull, gritty finish – as seen below – almost like that of a liquid sand (and very similar in texture to that of OPI Muppets World Tour). It’s easily smoothed out with a coat of topcoat though.
OPI My Voice is a Little Norse over OPI Do You Have This Color in Stockholm?
Overall I’m pretty impressed with the application and finish of Do You Have This Color in Stockholm and would definitely recommend it. However I think My Voice Is A Little Norse is a take-it-or-leave it… OPI have been doing a lot of silver holographic glitter polishes the last few collections and I feel like you can only have so many, although this is quite a unique take on the standard topper due to the grey base.
I still have my eye on My Dogsled is a Hybrid, even though it’s pretty close to Mermaid Tears… I need all the minty greens ever.
You can buy these polishes (and the rest of the OPI Nordic Collection) from lenawhite.co.uk here, and from Salon Services (a.k.a. ‘Sallys’) online here or in trade stores. The RRP is £11.95.
Let me know what your picks from the Nordic Collection are in the comments! 🙂
