Guest Post: Colour At Your Fingertips

Hello everyone! If this post posts itself as planned I am probably on holiday right now, yippee! I have a guest post for you today from the lovely Colour At Your Fingertips – please go and check out her blog when you get a chance!

MaxFactor Moon Dust (Number 42) Nail Polish

I was in Superdrug a couple of weeks ago and whilst browsing through all the MaxFactor mini polishes this one caught my eye for its unusual colour.  These are smaller polishes which I think are a great way to try out new colours that you wouldn’t ordinarily because you don’t have the worry about being stuck with a massive bottle of a colour you want to try out just for one occasion.

It is slightly two toned because although the overall effect of the polish is a purple glitter with a slight holographic effect in the light, the glitter is suspended in a dark grey polish.  This made the polish interesting to apply in my opinion and makes moon dust, something more unique than just a purple glitter polish.

In one light the polish will look completely purple and just a gorgeous glitter polish, but in other lights it can look a grey/purple colour and even slightly gold toned in other lights because of the dual toned glitter in this polish.

In terms of application this does require a bit of work as it is slightly thinner than the ones that I would normally choose, so to create this effect I used 3-4 coats on my nails.  This is normally a bit of a pain because if you are rushing out the door but want to add a pop of colour for these summery days and nights, polishes that require a lot of love and attention relating to the amount of coats they require can be a pain.  But the only saving grace for this is that it dries quite quickly, as when you have painted all your fingers with one coat, the first one is dry so you can carry on doing more coats until you reach the required opacity, so this long winded process doesn’t have to take all day.

Regarding pigmentation and colour pay off, I would say its a gorgeous dull purple colour, in the sense that the grey polish in which the purple glitter is suspended in does not make this polish vivid, is a pretty unusual aspect.  For that reason it is a nice alternative for summer if the weather is a little cooler one day, or if you are not prepared to rock a fluorescent pink.  But for this reason I also think that this colour would also be very pretty in the autumn/winter because it is not too bright and in your face.

I definitely think this is an unusual polish and would highly recommend checking it out if you are stuck for an unusual colour this summer.  As I said I picked this up in Superdrug for £3.99 but I’m sure you can find it in Boots and many other stores.

There we have a lovely polish from a lovely blogger! Thank you!

Hope you are all well 🙂
