Ciaté Pocket Money - Imagination In Colour

Ciaté Pocket Money

Once again Ciaté and Marie Claire have collaborated so that we readers can get a free bottle of Ciaté nail polish with this month’s edition of the magazine, priced fairly reasonably at £3.80 (compared with Ciaté’s RRP of £9.00 I think that’s quite a good deal!). They also offer 20% off any purchases at Ciaté online with a code I have yet to find! In June of last year Ciaté offered three polishes (which I strongly suspect were repromotes of existing shades marauding under different names!); Bon Bon, Jelly Bean and Purple Sherbet.

The two shades on offer this Spring are Pocket Money and Sand Dune. Today I am showing you Pocket Money, a pinky-brown creme polish.

Firstly, wow, I think this is the fewest photos I’ve used in a review post for a long time! Truthfully, my nails looked terribly on the day I wore this polish, as you can probably tell, so most of the photos showed both my nails and the polish in a bad light. Which do you prefer – 8 photos or 4? Or maybe an inbetweeny 5 or 6? 🙂

Pocket Money is an interesting rose-toned brown… it’s not what is usually termed a ‘neutral’ polish. I can’t work out how much I like it, but it’s definitely something I’d wear for a smart interview or for an office day, if I worked in an office that is! It looks okay on my skin tone, but I think it would look a lot more flattering on somebody with darker or more tanned skin than mine.

Application:

As ALWAYS with Ciaté polishes, application was flawless. I really cannot fault it. The polish was practically opaque in 1 coat, but I added an extra 2nd coat for full opacity. The brush is so comfortable to use, it’s still my favourite brush I have ever used. Anyway, the polish dried quickly and dried to a lovely high shine.

Despite the fact I probably wouldn’t choose this colour for myself, I can’t help but be impressed by the application which is why I had to share it with you all, after all, one person’s rubbish is another’s gold!

Did Pocket Money catch your eye? Would you spend your pocket money on it?! 🙂
