On my index and ring finger is GOSH Lavender Love, and on my middle and pinkie finger is Essie Lapis of Luxury.

Dupes? Not at all.

It was so tricky to try to capture the differences between these polishes because on flash they look identical. However, as you can (hopefully) see, the Essie is much more blue-grey toned, while the GOSH is very much more purple.

Formula-wise this is 2 coats for the Essie and 1 coat for the GOSH. I’m inclined to say I prefer the GOSH because it dries much more quickly and is much more opaque in 1 coat. However I still have some love for my Essie 🙂

I hope this helps anyone who might be wondering if they are similar.

Just a quick forewarning this post is a tad pic-heavy as I just couldn’t capture the colour right.

This is pretty much the colour of the polish, or as close as my camera could get.

Against a bright blue to show you how much more purpley it is.

And some nail art just for kicks 🙂

First of all, this polish and 3 other colours (purple, pink and greige) along with the GOSH Matte Top Coat are all Limited Edition so if you like them, get them asap! The other ones you will find swatches of on google.

I want to say that my first experience with this polish was a bad one, it dragged and took forever to dry and was just generally a nightmare. The second time, it applied like an absolute dream, dried in a reasonable amount of time and didn’t dent at all. It was opaque in ONE COAT! I don’t know what caused my previous bad experience, I suspect I may not have let my base coat dry fully and probably applied too thickly too, so just a word to the wise if you are in the habit of this 😀

The polish is close to Essie’s Lapis of Luxury but has a more purple undertone, making it a true cornflower blue. (I will be doing a swatch comparison which should appear in the next post).

The polish itself, as I mentioned, is not only a one-coat-wonder, but also dried with a beautiful glossy finish, eliminating the need for top coat. I’ve worn it for two days now and I have barely any tip-wear and no chips whatsoever. I am very happy with this polish now, can’t say I was the first time round! I think the key is in the application.

The polish retails at £4.99 in Superdrug so I’d grab them while you can 😉 I’m sorely tempted by the neon pink but I felt that Lavender Love was the most unique highstreet polish of the lot so went for that one.

The nail art (which I cocked up on the ring finger, oops) is just dotting with my white Rio Nail Art pen (and letting the dots merge to make the ‘petals’ connect)

First of all I still had the M&S; Duck Egg polish on, and didn’t want to take it off so did this over the top. I used GOSH Wild Lilac and the silver polish “Moonshine” (to make it shimmery) from Poundland mixed together on a piece of cardboard with a cotton bud stick (all cotton removed ofc), and then dabbed it onto my nails using a cheapie foundation sponge, from a pack of 25 I also bought at Poundland.

Originally I intended this as a gradient effect but as you can see that didn’t exactly happen lol.

I then topped it with Barry M’s Pink Iridescent to make it even more sparkly and because it didn’t look right on its own, I used my Rio Nail Art pens in black and white and just dotted the flower petals and switched colours for the centre.

A bit boring I know but it gained some interest at school 🙂

And if you’re wondering where the splodges came from it’s because I can’t sit still to save my life, even when nail art is at stake!

Hope you are all well, my GOSH Golden Dragon polish arrived today so I’m feeling very cheerful 😀 revision here I come…

This is a really pretty bright green polish, PACKED with holographic glitter. I’ve only seen one of these in store ever, so I don’t know if it’s been discontinued or something but if you see it snap it up 😀 It looks lovely, even on my pale skin tone (once again my hands look bright red in this pic, they aren’t… maybe I should adjust camera settings?) and is very bright! My only issue is finding an outfit to go with it. Perfect Halloween colour though, and seriously, the glitter is dazzling!

This is 3 coats, the third was because I had time on my hands and this polish is the only GOSH I have ever used that actually dries relatively quickly. I suppose it’s probably because it’s a glitter. Opaque in 2 coats though, and surprisingly not as garish as it looks like it could be. The only thing I should mention is that to get the full shiny dazzling effect you would be best advised to use a topcoat, I think it could really benefit from it, although it’s still really pretty and mostly smooth without it.

Also, coming from a heavy nail abuser, this polish still hasn’t chipped 2 days after application, without topcoat, where for me there is usually some form of chipping or tipwear after a day, even with the decent decent brands.

And because I couldn’t be bothered to take it off last night, I am the bearer of lizard nails:

Does anyone else find that the Barry M Instant Nail Effects leaves your base colour with a matte/velvety finish? It’s just not right with a glitter! Argh!

It looks okay in this picture but irl it looked rly bad. Well I think it was just the contrast of the red against the very very pale holographic that made it look even more pale. My mum thought it was a fungal infection from a distance.

Anywho, I liked it at the time so there we go 🙂 I used No.7 in Salsa 93 for the red (I’ve heard from Lina-Elvira’s blogpost that it is a dupe of Nails Inc. Aspen) and GOSH Holographic for the holographic ring finger (yes I caved… they were selling for half price in Superdrug! I think they still are…).

No.7 Salsa was mostly easily to apply although I found that if I was a little too slothful – can you believe that’s a word?! – in my application then it begun to drag a little, but otherwise it was good. First coat dried fast, this was two coats. However, the staying power was far from heavenly. To be fair, I do put it through a fair bit of stress during my paper round and I didn’t use a topcoat due to lack of funds, but this tipwear was after less than one day of wear. Hmm. Still at £2 (with another £5 off voucher I had) I can’t complain, and it really is a very sexy nail colour 🙂

GOSH’s Holographic polish was just awful. I confess I didn’t find the application as bad as everybody seems to say, but it took 4 coats to get to this opaque state as it was very uneven. If I so much as touched it it decided to come off on my finger, reminding me of the powder on butterfly wings. Don’t touch butterfly wings, this results in their starvation and death. Also, it chips like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Not even with the Poundland ChitChat polishes (remarkably good for the price, but anyway…) did I experience such a horror. I’m just happy I didn’t pay £16 for it on eBay because, looking online, there are many much better holo’s out there with better properties full stop. However, this was pretty for the day 🙂

That’s all from me since I’m getting sleepy. I wasn’t going to do this ’til tomorrow but I’m waiting for my nails to dry. This one’s exciting 😉
