Today I have another gorgeous polish from the Color Club Winter Affair collection – Berry and Bright. It might interest you all to know that Color Club have made it to the UK – their new official UK stockist is at colorclubuk.com, which I’m super excited about! They have just got the Halo Hues collection (holographics) in, as well as the Ruby Wing polishes (colour-changing in sunlight!), so purses be warned!
While this is a ‘holiday’ or Christmas season polish, I think it’s one of those versatile colours which can look elegant and attractive all year round.
Berry and Bright is a gorgeous cranberry red shimmer with a hint of magenta. I also could see some subtle purple-blue sparkles but the camera couldn’t seem to pick them up unfortunately. The finish is almost foily due to the densely packed red and pink shimmer – most like the final full-hand photo. There is more red than pink which is what gives this polish the flash of magenta – it’s not as strong as a duochrome but it certainly alters the colour of the polish in different lights, for example indoors, it appeared as quite a dark red whereas outdoors it appears lighter. What I love is that it’s not one I’d have picked up off the shelf, and yet it is absolutely stunning and I adored it on my nails – I really didn’t want to take it off. I seem to have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to these types of colours – in the shop I’ll walk straight past it but when it’s on my nails I can’t stop looking and admiring. Anyway, I’ll stop gushing now!
This was an odd polish in terms of application… I felt like it was quite resistant to being spread across my nails, and it dried quickly enough that too many strokes made it drag. However it took a long while to be fully touch dry, which is quite strange, after about 10 minutes I put my finger on one nail to test if it was dry and it smudged the polish :s nothing a quick-dry topcoat won’t fix though, so as long as you have one handy the dry-time won’t be a problem! I think it’s probably because the formula is quite thick. The finish was fairly smooth, perhaps a little thick, but careful application will prevent this. It was opaque at 1 coat but I wanted to even out the finish so I added a second – all the photos show 2 coats – and weirdly the 2nd coat dried faster.
What do you think of this polish? For me, the colour is definitely worth the application problems which frankly were minor compared to some…it’s definitely not a nightmare polish and all the problems are fixable and won’t affect your usual routine very much. I am just so in love with the colour I keep scrolling up to look at the pictures again! I think this is such a perfect festive colour and a fantastic year-round pedicure winner… I can’t wait to put this on my toes!
Berry and Bright will set you back a very modest £5 (who can resist that kind of price?!) from colorclubuk.com, where they are selling other polishes from the Winter Affair collection such as Gift of Sparkle, the new glitter love of my life! What festive polishes do you wear all-year-round? I’m not really one for following seasonal musts and must-nots so for me this one will be worn in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter!
Berry and Bright was sent to me by Color Club UK for unbiased review consideration.
