GOSH 564 Golden Dragon

I confess, I bought this beauty from eBay ๐Ÿ™‚ but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be in your local Superdrug, they never seem to sort out the displays and sometimes you can find some lovely (discontinued? I don’t know if Golden Dragon is?) gems hiding away ๐Ÿ™‚ If you see this polish, I 100% recommend you to buy it.

This is what it looks like in normal indoors light.
Flash.
Sunlight.
Sunlight.

I wore this on Andy’s recommendation for Earth Day, and also to go and see Derren Brown Svengali on Friday night, which by the way was FABULOUS, he’s such a good entertainer and I would one million percent recommend you see it if you haven’t already got tickets!!!

Golden Dragon has a lovely sea greeny-blue base, which is almost lost amongst the green and gold shimmer. I really is absolutely gorgeous, especially in sunlight and false lighting. It’s one of those polishes that doesn’t look right with a top coat, which isn’t an issue because on me it lasted 2 days with minimal tipwear before I caved and took it off. It dries relatively quickly, especially compared to many of GOSH’s creme polishes which take forever.

The photos don’t really capture the polish as much as I’d like. The top photo shows how it looks quite plain in natural light, but if you get the chance to wear this on a sunny day you will be rewarded with the gorgeous gold/green shimmer ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a lovely sea-green colour, and definitely the colour I picture a dragon to be! It’s certainly one of those more interesting ‘sophisticated’ polishes.

Hope you’re all having a lovely long weekend with the sunshine, I have 2 essays to get through before tomorrow lol really not motivated at all!

Easter Mini Egg Nail Art

Gigantic jar of mini eggs and choccys – yum!
What I used:
– Rimmel Stronger Double Duty Base Coat
– Barry Mย 307ย Lemon Ice Cream
– Revlon 044 Blue Lagoon
-Revlon 040ย Fuchsiaย Fever
– GOSH 571 Wild Lilac
– Barry M 310 Mushroom
– Rimmel Lycra Pro Matte Finish
– Cocktail Stick
You can probably guess that I did 2-3 coats of each colour, and used Barry M’s Mushroom on the end of a cocktail stick to make the brown dots, then finished it off with a coat of Matte top coat. ๐Ÿ™‚
I love Mini Eggs, particularly the colours and matte-like finish of them, has always reminded me of Easter.
Reviews of the polishes shown will be coming up ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope you all have a good one ๐Ÿ˜€

GOSH Limited Edition Spring 2011 – 001 Lavender Love + Spring Nail Art

Just a quick forewarning this post is a tad pic-heavy as I just couldn’t capture the colour right.
This is pretty much the colour of the polish, or as close as my camera could get.
Against a bright blue to show you how much more purpley it is.
And some nail art just for kicks ๐Ÿ™‚
First of all, this polish and 3 other colours (purple, pink and greige) along with the GOSH Matte Top Coat are all Limited Edition so if you like them, get them asap! The other ones you will find swatches of on google.
I want to say that my first experience with this polish was a bad one, it dragged and took forever to dry and was just generally a nightmare. The second time, it applied like an absolute dream, dried in a reasonable amount of time and didn’t dent at all. It was opaque in ONE COAT! I don’t know what caused my previous bad experience, I suspect I may not have let my base coat dry fully and probably applied too thickly too, so just a word to the wise if you are in the habit of this ๐Ÿ˜€
The polish is close to Essie’s Lapis of Luxury but has a more purple undertone, making it a true cornflower blue. (I will be doing a swatch comparison which should appear in the next post).
The polish itself, as I mentioned, is not only a one-coat-wonder, but also dried with a beautiful glossy finish, eliminating the need for top coat. I’ve worn it for two days now and I have barely any tip-wear and no chips whatsoever. I am very happy with this polish now, can’t say I was the first time round! I think the key is in the application.
The polish retails at ยฃ4.99 in Superdrug so I’d grab them while you can ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m sorely tempted by the neon pink but I felt that Lavender Love was the most unique highstreet polish of the lot so went for that one.
The nail art (which I cocked up on the ring finger, oops) is just dotting with my white Rio Nail Art pen (and letting the dots merge to make the ‘petals’ connect)
Hope you are all doing okay, drop me a line guys ๐Ÿ˜€ I have some lovely Lemon Earle Grey tea to hand, which I have to say is my lifeline at the mo following my second traumatic blood test experience this month, I’ve come home with 8 holes in my arms and hands, bruised to high heaven and generally feeling a bit shakey. They tried several times in each hole as well! Argh. Anyways enough of my moaning, I was lucky enough to win the Models Own Twitter competition and have the black and the silver Smash Up crackle polishes somewhere in the post! Thank you Models Own!
Let me know your thoughts on this polish.

Spring Time Nail Art

First of all I still had the M&S; Duck Egg polish on, and didn’t want to take it off so did this over the top. I used GOSH Wild Lilac and the silver polish “Moonshine”ย (to make it shimmery)ย from Poundland mixed together on a piece of cardboard with a cotton bud stick (all cotton removed ofc), and then dabbed it onto my nails using a cheapie foundation sponge, from a pack of 25 I also bought at Poundland.
Originally I intended this as a gradient effect but as you can see that didn’t exactly happen lol.
I then topped it with Barry M’s Pink Iridescent to make it even more sparkly and because it didn’t look right on its own, I used my Rio Nail Art pens in black and white and just dotted the flower petals and switched colours for the centre.
A bit boring I know but it gained some interest at school ๐Ÿ™‚
And if you’re wondering where the splodges came from it’s because I can’t sit still to save my life, even when nail art is at stake!
Hope you are all well, my GOSH Golden Dragon polish arrived today so I’m feeling very cheerful ๐Ÿ˜€ revision here I come…

Nails Inc. Petticoat Lane

With flash, 2 coats.
This is what it looks like with no artificial light or sunlight!

This is another of the polishes I received in the Lucky Dip, so it’s a discontinued polish, but I’m fairly sure there have been a few floating around on eBay recently. This is basically a raspberry coloured jelly, packed with pink glitter suspended in the polish. It applies beautifully and dries ever so fast! I am slowly becoming addicted to Nails Inc. polishes, largely for their fast-drying properties! I’ve had my eye on a few raspberry jellies recently so I was more than pleased when I opened my Nails Inc. package to find this beauty! My only qualm is that it looks quite dark when it isn’t in direct light, but it is gorgeous and I love it, this is my second wear in 2 weeks! It kind of reminds me of the O.P.I. Katy Perry polish in The One That Got Away, but with more, and larger, glitter.
I didn’t fancy the glitter removal challenge after the first day of wearing it so attempted a leopard print design…

Looks alright in flash, right?
Here is what it looked like 90% of the time, so dark that it just looked a mess! Such a shame because I love the picture in flash. So I ended up removing it anyway. For the leopard prints I used Boots 17 Lasting Fix ‘Peacock’, and the little unknown gold polish I got in a makeup set for my birthday (which is actually of surprisingly good quality – PrettyPink from Argos, and BUAV approved!) and my trusty Rio Nail Art Pen in black.
So my lesson is learnt, this polish is not really one for the nail art pile, but I’m happy wearing it alone anyway so I don’t mind too much!
Hope you are all well, I have a suspected stomach ulcer so I’m feeling a bit rubbish atm, hence my absence on here and Twitter!
