Here is Ruby Glitter, from the new Barry M ‘Jewel Glitter’ Collection – this one is definitely a favourite for me! This is the first time I’ve seen black glitter being used in a polish on the UK highstreet, so it’s exciting!
Ruby Glitter is a gorgeous mix of large rose coloured hexagonal glitter, large black hexagonal glitter and very small black bar glitter, all suspended in a clear base. While it doesn’t look as dense on the nail as it does in the bottle, it is certainly buildable and makes for a fabulous topcoat too. I love that the black glitter looks almost rubbery, while the rose pink glitter is so reflective, very bondage-esque! This looks gorgeous over nude polishes as well as brights and darks, Ciaté Bon Bon being one of my favourite ‘underlays’ for this glitter.
Application:
Clearly this is not an opaque glitter, and would take quite a while to become one. I do feel that it’s buildable but certainly looks best layered. It takes average time to dry, not too long a wait and is totally dry at 2 coats within 20 minutes. The application was fine, the glitter applied evenly and it was easy to get the glitter onto the brush so no problems there. It is quite shiny due to the clear polish, so dries to quite an even finish but could perhaps benefit from a slick of topcoat for extra shine.
I definitely love this one a lot, it holds a definite nod to indie glitters and I am loving the colour combination – super pretty, and I love how truly unique it is. In fact, most of the new Jewel Glitters are pretty unique, yay!
Ruby Glitter is one of seven new glitters in the Barry M ‘Jewel Glitter’ range: Pink Sapphire Glitter, Rose Quartz Glitter, Amethyst Glitter, Gold Mine Glitter, Ruby Glitter, Yellow Topaz Glitter and Diamond Glitter. Which ones will you be getting?
