Barry M Green Glitter - Imagination In Colour

Barry M Green Glitter

First off, I’ve been having a play around with my blog, as I’m sure my returning visitors will notice, pretty much everything but the content has changed! It’s likely to change more in the coming weeks, I’m not totally happy with it yet. I’ve made many adjustments to the original theme thanks to my Andy. I can’t pretend to be a computer whiz… Andy did pretty much everything, I managed to change the font coding on my own but that was it!!

Now this lovely glitter. It has won my heart! The best I can think to describe it is AstroTurf green. The texture kind of makes me think of AstroTurf too. I apologise in advance; the pictures all seem to either pull a little more aquamarine than in real life, or make the polish look paler/less dense than it really is. My camera doesn’t seem to want to play ball lately. I can assure you, it’s a very true green, no blue here!

This picture is probably the most accurate, it’s very very vibrant and eye-catching!

This glitter is impressively dense,  considering it’s essentially a load of green glitter packed into a clear base. It has a lot of depth, much like Barry M Blue Glitter and Barry M Red Glitter. What I really love about these three polishes is that you don’t need to layer them up over a base coat in order to get complete coverage.

I’ve noticed a few differences between Green Glitter and Red and Blue Glitter:

  • Red and Blue Glitter are both too dense to be used as a top coat for another polish – one coat will obscure most of the basecoat. Green Glitter on the other hand gives a lovely ‘topcoat effect’ at one coat. Any further coats and it becomes too dense.
  • I also found that Red and Blue Glitter both require two or more coats of clear topcoat in order to look shiny and smooth, while Green Glitter required just one coat. I think this probably means that there is less glitter per ml of clear polish in Green Glitter than in Red and Blue Glitter. Still, this didn’t seem to affect its opacity.

Application:

The pictures show three coats of Green Glitter with one coat of topcoat. The polish dried fairly quickly so three coats wasn’t a problem. I didn’t have any problems with dragging, which can cause issues with dense glitters.  I also found the polish much easier to apply neatly than Red and Blue Glitter, which can again, presumably, be attributed to the amount of glitter per ml of clear polish. As can only be expected with a glitter polish, removal did take a while!

I am very pleased with this polish, it’s very vibrant and certainly one which well get a lot of compliments. It’s also one of those greens that doesn’t have to be stowed away until the Christmas season, it’s ‘evergreen’ (lol lol lol).

I’ve never actually seen this one in Boots or Superdrug, only on the Barry M website. My mum very kindly bought me about 12 Barry M polishes for Christmas from their site, so I’ve been happily testing all the polishes I’d never seen in real life before!

I did ponder how similar in colour Green Glitter is to OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air. I have to conclude that Green Glitter is more blue-toned than the OPI, which I suppose is why my camera was pulling aquamarine.

Have any of you tried Green Glitter? What did you think? Where did you get it?

Hope you’re doing well, I’m enjoying my week off (I should probably be studying…) and thoroughly enjoying the Spring nail releases! A lot of brands seem to be really pushing the boat out, at last! Let me know what you think of the new blog layout and colours. Hopefully we can get the tiny-ness of the font in the comments fixed soon.
