Barry M Cor Balmy! Collection - Imagination In Colour

Barry M Cor Balmy! Collection

Hey girlies! As I mentioned in my May Favourites video, I’m trying to branch out a bit more on the content of my blog. Barry M have given me the perfect opportunity to do so by sending me some of their new lip products – the first of which I will be showing you today; the Cor Balmy! Tinted Lip Balm 🙂

Now these lip balms do bear a striking resemblance to the Maybelline Baby Lips, from the packaging, with the big bold font, down to the nature of the product – a wash of colour in a lip balm. The Barry M Cor Balmy balms do have a white core, which apparently contains shea butter, jojoba oil and vitamins for moisturising your lips.

Barry M’s press release states that these give a hint of colour and can be built up or left subtle. They are also lightly scented (I do love me a scented lip balm!!)

Left to right: Jam Jar, Trouble & Strife, Adam & Eve, Currant Bun, Rosie Lea.

This is darkish blue-toned red in the packaging, however as you can see, it still comes off as a wash of red rather than a block colour. To me, this smells like synthetic strawberry and mango, but it’s a really pleasant scent and not too strong. I did find the colour payoff was a little patchy but you can build it up to be a smoother finish. I did have to go over this a good couple of times to get it looking even.

Barry M Cor Balmy Trouble & Strife

This is one of my favourite two. It looks like a bright, orange-toned coral in the stick, but it comes off really as a hint of coral. I’ve been using this a fair bit and it’s definitely buildable to a nice orangey-red wash, but I like it both ways. Colour payoff was even so you could wear it sheer or darker. The scent of this one is amazing… it smells of chocolate orange!! I can’t get enough, it’s just divine!! The scent does leave an odd taste in your mouth after a while… but I remedy that by applying more.

Barry M Cor Balmy Adam & Eve

This is a milky pale pink, as you would expect from the packaging. I have to admit, this is a colour I hate on me – I feel like it makes my lips look dead, being as pale as I am! But it’s very flattering on others, particularly with a tan or darker skin tone. The application was rather milky too – I found it was a little patchy but nothing unworkable. As you can see you can still see a bit of my natural lip colour through it, but that’s nothing a couple of extra coats wouldn’t solve. The scent of this one is of strawberry milkshake, which is ultra yummy! I would probably consider prepping with this before wearing a light pink lipstick, but wouldn’t wear it otherwise.

This is my other favourite of the balms. This is a muted dusky pink in the packaging, which translates as light wash of blue-toned pink on the lip. It’s definitely a your-lips-but-better shade. The colour payoff is lovely and even – I wouldn’t say the colour builds up all that much, as it stays the colour you can see above from the first coat to the third. The scent is of raspberries – I love it!

Barry M Cor Balmy Currant Bun

This is another colour I’m not keen on myself, although I think it’ll be gorgeous on tanned or darker skin. The colour is a very muted berry. Application-wise, the colour was a little patchy but nothing an extra coat couldn’t sort out. As you can see the final result is very even. The scent reminds me of The Body Shop Passionberry Born Lippy, and I can’t really think of anything else that smells like that so that’s all you’re getting! 😉

Overall

While a couple of these were a little patchy on application, the overall colour payoff was great with additional coats. The standout two for me are Rosie Lea and Trouble & Strife… I’ve been using them every day for two weeks! I do find that while they are on, these lip balms feel very moisturising, however once they’ve dried out a bit my lips definitely feel a bit dryer. They don’t dry them out over time – it’s only when it’s been applied and has dried out that I get that feeling of dryness.

The Cor Balmy! tinted lip balms cost just £3.49, and are available at barrym.com, in Boots and in Superdrug.

Let me know what you think of these, and which are your picks!
