Today I have an ‘ultra-modern’ inspired creation as part of the ‘Three Nail Challenge‘, devised by the lovely ladies at Mateji Ustvarjata. To be honest I don’t really know what qualifies as ultra-modern but colour blocking and abstract art came to mind for some reason, so that’s what happened!
For some reason Barry M Spring Green and Barry M Cyan Blue look very different through my camera lens than they do in person, they are much deeper and more vibrant!
What I used:
- Missguided Misstaken
- Barry M Yellow
- Barry M Spring Green
- Barry M Cyan Blue
- Barry M Shocking Pink
- Acrylic paint in ‘Mars Black’
- Nail art brush
- Barry M All In One Topcoat
How I did it:
First I painted each nail in a different colour (which formed the colour in the centre square of each nail). I then painted across the bottom of each nail in a different colour. Then I painted a vertical line from the edge of the bottom line up the right hand side of each nail in a different colour. Next I painted a horizontal line from the edge of the vertical line to the left hand side of each nail in a different colour. Then I painted another vertical line from the bottom of the horizontal line at the top to the bottom of the nail (overlapping the bottom line) along the left hand side in a different colour. I used a thin nail art brush to apply the acrylic paint along the edges of the lines to neaten up the edges and the overlaps. I then finished with a slick of top coat.
This looked a lot better in person, I was quite pleased with it as I thought it would look a lot messier than this! What do you think of when you hear the phrase ‘ultra-modern’?
