I’m a big sucker for Valentine’s Day, I’m a big romantic and I love any reason to get back in touch with love (and I don’t think that it means I love my man any less on other days of the year either, it’s just nice to get caught up in everyone else’s love, romance and happiness when you don’t see it every day!). That’s not to say that I want to alienate anyone who doesn’t like Valentine’s Day either, and it’s cool to be single too! 🙂 Just a no-offence-meant disclaimer for you all 🙂
So here is the product of a Valentine’s brainstorm… okay I didn’t go very crazy with it but I didn’t want to spoil it, as you will probably see by following the pictures, lol!
The reason I was so cautious about messing it up is because I was pretty proud of the free-handed heart tips – I’ve never been very good at free-hand using a polish brush so I was quite chuffed with how they came out!
What I used:
- OPI You Only Live Twice
- Orange Stick (to dot and shape the mini hearts)
- Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat
How I did it:
First I carefully painted on a curve (using You Only Live Twice) from the middle of my nail at the far right edge down to the centre of my free edge, and repeated on the other side. I did this for all my nails then repeated with a second coat. I then used the orange stick to dot on the top ‘ears’ of the mini hearts and another dot underneath these, touching, and in the middle. I used the orange stick, loaded with another blob of polish, to shape the point of the heart. I repeated this for the other mini hearts and added a coat of topcoat, and voila!
This look is super easy, all you need is a steady-ish hand. And if you mess up the heart-shaped tips, you can use an angled brush dipped in nail polish remover to re-shape the tip. Easy-peasy! What will your nails be wearing on Valentine’s Day?
