China Glaze Infra Red

Ever since I first heard that China Glaze were releasing another set of holographic polishes, entitled the Hologlam Collection, I was dying to try at least one. I love holo as much as the next nail blogger, so when the Hologlam polishes popped up on Nail Polish Direct, I just had to satiate my curiosity. I managed to restrain myself to just the one polish, since the Hologlams are more pricey than the standard China Glaze (£8.95 at nailpolishdirect.com and more at other retailers compared with an average £6ish price tag for a standard China Glaze).

Infra Red is pretty gorgeous – it’s a lovely raspberry-fuchsia shade with some seemingly subtle linear holo to it… the holo is largely invisible in anything other than purest sunlight or bright artificial light, hence some of the weird angles in the following photos. My nails all have one coat of Revlon Quick Dry Topcoat over them:

Color Club Gift of Sparkle

Hello lovelies! Sorry for the lack of posting over the last couple of days… I’ve had a horrible tonsilitis which is starting to get a little better with antibiotics but it’s had me bedbound since Tuesday! Anyway, today I have an irresistible polish from Color Club, who have a brand new official UK stockist, at colorclubuk.com. They do in fact have both the Ruby Wing polishes (change colour in the sun!) and the Halo Hues collection arriving at their site next week so keep an eye out – the Halo Hues is a collection of holos! I already have my eye on Angel Kiss.

Anyway, today I have Gift of Sparkle for you to see – this was released as part of the Winter Affair collection which was Color Club’s Holiday 2012 collection.

Models Own Southern Lights

Hi everyone! I am SO excited to be back blogging! I feel it’s only fair to let you know what stopped me from blogging between November 24th and today. First of all, my laptop broke so there was physically no way for me to edit my photos – I borrowed Andy’s iPad for the month of December but couldn’t work out how to edit photos on it. This was resolved in January, when I bought a brand spanking new Acer laptop, which should have been the end of my problems. Next, we discovered there was a connection issue with my laptop, largely due to it only having out-of-date network drivers, so that took a good few days to fix. I then installed the latest update for WordPress, and something happened to my entire blog where the permalinks were all wrong and I couldn’t upload or edit any of my posts, which again would have been easily fixed but for the fact that when I changed my hosting package over, they put me on a new server but never sent across the login details so we couldn’t access my cPanel. Anyway, the whole thing took a good 2 weeks to fix but thanks to the hard work of Andy, Andy’s business partner and the people at 600host, Imagination in Colour is finally fixed!! I have so many images for so many blogposts it’s unreal… Look forward to lots of blogposts over the next few weeks! I’ve also added a little favicon (the flower you can see at the left of the tab for my page) for my site as well and will be working on a new logo!

Also a quick mention for my giveaway on Facebook – it was my 2 year bloggiversary on 13th January so in light of my blog’s problems I set up a giveaway on Facebook. All you have to do to enter is SHARE this photo! The prizes are: Fearne Perfectly Polished gift set, Barry M Aqua Glitter, GOSH Holographic Hero and Barry M Amethyst. The winner will be announced on Sunday 27th January.

Today I have Models Own Southern Lights to show you, released in October 2012 as part of the Models Own Wonderland Collection. All of the polishes are so pretty but I only chose two, you’ll have to wait for another post to find out which one 😉

A England Saint George

Remember when I showed you the gorgeous lilac-nude-duochrome-holo that was A England Princess Tears? Well today I have for you an equally gorgeous teal-green-holo! This is another one which has zoomed right up into my top favourite ever polishes. I was lucky enough to be able to capture this one in the sun, which is where the holo is most apparent.

A England Saint George St George and the dragon green blue teal holo holographic nail polish multicoloured rainbow effect forest green sea UK Indie brand Adina close up Green-lovers and holo-addicts unite – this one’s AMAZING. I feel I should stress that the holographic effect of this polish isn’t always visible – I found it looked almost like a teal with silver shimmer in some lower lights. The holo effect isn’t nearly as strong as in GOSH Holographic. The sun really does make this polish come to life though, and I almost love it more for its hidden holographic quality.

Application:

The polish was opaque at 2 coats, as shown in the photos. It dried to a high shine, so no topcoat necessary (although topcoat seems to intensify the holographic effect!). Saint George dried relatively quickly too. I did find the brush was a little tricky to control in that it’s quite round, which made getting into the corners of my nails neatly quite a task! But I really can’t fault it. When I removed the polish, my fingers did go very green but that was easily removed with polish remover.

What do you think of Saint George? It’s easily a winner in my books. EASILY. The depth of the polish makes me think of mythical sea creatures and dragons… polish heaven!

A England Saint George is available from A-England.co.uk  for £9. A England offer free delivery worldwide! As it’s an indie brand I am more than happy to splash out the extra cash for it, and I really think this one earns its price and more.

I am currently lusting after pretty much ALL of their polishes. Which is your favourite?
