Rimmel London Keep Calm Lasting Finish Nail Polish - Imagination In Colour

Rimmel London Keep Calm Lasting Finish Nail Polish

Hello my fellow nail polish aficionados, today I have another selection of Rimmel London nail polishes to show you all. To tell the truth, I’m not entirely sure when these came out – all I know is that they are all available now! These beautiful colours were sent to me by Rimmel for review. I’m pretty chuffed with them, because lately I’ve been a bit blinkered to highstreet nail polishes because of all the indies (ALL the indies!), and sometimes I forget how nice it is to have just a standard creme, or a staple colour with great formula and quality.

I know we are coming into Autumn now, but rules are made to be broken (especially fashion rules – who’s with me?!)

Rimmel Keep Calm & Kiss

Keep Calm & Kiss

Cute name! This polish is a rich baby pink creme full of a subtle silvery shimmer. It’s the kind that isn’t all that obvious but makes your pink nails that extra bit special. I totally love this – it’s very flattering and not at all chalky, as some baby pinks can be.

It applies well – it is a little sheer so takes 2-3 coats to really build up to opacity. It’s even and has a lovely formula, it just glides on. It dries fairly quickly to a quite shiny finish. Topcoat for full effect.

Rimmel Keep Calm & Play

It’s been a while since a lovely bright mint green creme came around – all too often they are muted or slightly too blue or slightly too green – this is the perfect balance of the two. This reminds me of the Uni-ball Signo scented gel pens in mint – oh my word I loved those things! Most of my childhood was spent sniffing gel pens. I’m sure I’m not alone haha. Well this nail polish is that precise colour. Be right back while I go and scour the shops for scented gel pens!

Application-wise this was lovely – totally opaque in 2 coats, dries quickly and to a lovely high shine. I can’t fault it. It fills the mint-nail-polish-shaped-hole in the market. Perfect.

Rimmel Keep Calm & Party

You’ll have to excuse my using the flash for this one – I ran out of daylight! (Must remind self to get daylight bulbs…). This is a really pretty bright lilac creme. A great staple for any collection.

Formula was again, great quality. Opaque in 2 coats, dries quickly and to a lovely high shine. No issues whatsoever.

A lovely tangerine-leaning coral creme – while it’s not the most unique, it’s always good to have a colour like this in your collection. I find these types of colours cheer me up on a gloomy day, and make perfect ‘underwear’ for glitters! The nature of these colours means that the free edge is often a little visible because of how white shows through the pigment, but it’s nothing major and not really noticeable in person. Big thumbs up from me!

It applies really nicely, and has a nice even finish. Opaque at 2 coats and dries quickly to a nice shine.

Rimmel Cute As A Kitten Heel

This is a really interesting sherbet yellow creme. It’s unique (to my collection) in that it’s both light and bright, and doesn’t have any pastel or orangey undertones. I really like it – it’s quite flattering to my pink-toned skin, where a lot of yellows are not!

It applies fairly well, for a yellow. It is a little streaky but it’s quite opaque so gives a full and even coverage in 2-3 coats. It dries quickly to a nice glossy finish.

Overall

I really like this collection! Somehow, despite the colours all being quite standard, generic nail polish colours, Rimmel have managed to make each one quite unique. My personal favourites are Keep Calm and Kiss (pink), Keep Calm and Play (mint) and Cute as a Kitten Heel (yellow). I am looking forward to using these as base colours for some of my (largely untried) glitter collection! They are perfect 🙂

You can buy the Rimmel Lasting Finish range from various shops including Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, Asos… and the list goes on! They are a very reasonable £2.99 and I don’t think they have compromised on quality for that price!

Which are your favourites?
