Hello lovelies! I have a little confession to make… I think you probably knew as well as I did that I wasn’t going to be able to resist getting the last two from the Picture Polish Limited Edition Collection. Might as well get it out in the open – I am now the proud (and broke) owner of all 5. I didn’t even LIKE Solar Flare in online swatches, but I just couldn’t resist the temptation… le sigh, what is life etc etc. Last week I showed you Aurora, Illusionist and Altered State, and now I have Solar Flare, and Gravity… 🙂 No judging here please 😉
So first of all I’m going to put you out of your misery – YES I am pleased I bought this one, YES it’s better than I hoped (1000x) and YES I love it! This is two coats of Solar Flare over one coat of Nails Inc New York Noir. Solar Flare has a sheer grey base, and is a multichrome – it mostly flashes pink/orange, but at extreme angles (as above) you can see green too. Wowza. I’m in love. It’s also packed with holographic flecks, as were Illusionist, Altered State and Gravity. The holo is quite subtle in these flecks, only really showing in bright light or sunlight. The orange comes off kind of bronzey in lots of lights, it reminds me of autumn :).
Application:
As with the others, this polish is sheer and would take 4-5 coats for full opacity alone, so it’s best layered unless you’re very patient! Dark colours bring out the multichrome effect best, and I haven’t tried it over many pale shades but I’ll pop some pictures up if I do! It applies evenly and dries relatively quickly to a nice shine. I’ve been using topcoat to make the most of the colour shift.
I always love to be surprised by a nail varnish, and this one really did surprise me. I didn’t expect to like it half as much as I do!
Picture Polish is an Australian brand so can be a little hard to get hold of in the UK; I bought my bottle of Solar Flare from Rainbow Connection UK, for £13.50. Rainbow Connection has free delivery on orders over £20 too! It’s still available here so get your paws on it quickly, last time it flew off the proverbial shelves!
