Barry M Aqua Glitter

This is a rather exciting post as it’s my first post with my new Canon 600D! It’s an amazing camera, I am VERY happy with it! 😀

Aside from my camera being new, Barry M have brought out 5 new glitter polishes in Magenta (Superdrug exclusive), Aqua, Gold, Silver Multi and Pink Silver glitter. I just had to buy all of them…

Barry M Aqua Glitter new festival turquoise blue microglitter hexagonal mermaid fish tail topcoat close up I love love love this polish, I think my favourite finish is at 2 coats though. It also looks amazing as a topcoat – as you can see in the first photo, it’s sparse enough to make a great topcoat then somewhere between 1-2 coats it gets a huge amount of density, lol. The polish has two sizes of glitter – the very aqua-blue microglitter, and the small hexagonal glitter is slightly more pure blue. I love how the two sizes give the glitter a wonderful textured look, it reminds me of mermaids and sea creatures!

Application:

Aqua Glitter is virtually opaque at 3 coats… the photos all show 4 coats to keep them consistent. As with most glitters, the polish dried very quickly. If you aren’t a fan of the grainy finish of most glitters, you will want to use a topcoat, possibly two coats of it, to make it smooth. Removal was average for a glitter – at 4 coats it was very stubborn but not so bad at 2 coats.

As Linzi pointed out on Facebook, this polish is practically identical to Nails Inc. Fitzroy Square – but £8 cheaper! Even down to the glitter sizes. This for me is a very good thing, as there’s no way I can afford £11 per bottle for Nails Inc.

What do you think of this one? I absolutely love it, I feel some mermaid’s tail nail art coming on! I love that Barry M are really getting their teeth into nail polish these days, and really pushing forwards in the UK polish market.

Keep an eye out for the new glitters on here, Silver Multi Glitter is up next!

Flower Tips Nail Art

Here is an easy-peasy bit of nail art for you all! Sorry about the photo quality, this was taken on my phone… I wanted to keep updating my blog as I miss it! Hopefully my new camera will arrive soon. It’s apparently at Heathrow right now, woo!

What I used:

This look is so easy – just one coat of Swan Lake for a little bit of sparkle, then use the dotting tool to make 5 dots around a central point in a flower shape, wait for that to dry and then squeeze out a dot of yellow in the middle of each flower!

What do you think? I like this kind of simple-but-pretty nail art, it only took me about 10 minutes to do both hand and it makes stained tips look very clean and white against the red!

What’s your favourite simple nail art design?

Barry M Retro 2 “Electric Dreams”

Barry M have produced 5 new ‘retro’ shades in their original bottles as a celebration of their 30th Birthday – you get one free when you spend £6 or more on Barry M in Boots and Superdrug.

This one was sooo hard to photograph! The turquoise shimmer totally distorts the image colour, lol. The first photo is probably the most colour accurate.

Barry M Retro 2 Electric Dreams 30 year anniversary cobalt blue shimmer vibrant turquoise bright close up Pretty! I love the name of this – ‘Electric Dreams’ seems so perfect for this shade, a lovely electric blue shot with turquoise shimmer. This is super pretty on, and very eye-catching. Quite unique in my collection, which is a small achievement!

Application:

The photos all show 2 coats, but this was basically opaque at 1 coat. The polish applied smoothly and dried quickly to a high shine. The rounded cap made application a tiny bit more difficult but if you’re used to using Nails Inc, Accessorize, 2True etc. the rounded cap won’t be a problem.

What do you think of this shade? I really love it, but then I seem to gravitate towards blues anyway 🙂 Have you picked up any of the 5 retro shades?

Hopefully my blogging will resume as usual soon… I have two of the new Barry M glitters to show you 😮 they are AMAZING!

A England Princess Tears

Hello all! I’m sorry for being away for a while – my camera has broken and I kind of lost the motivation to blog. I do still have a few old photos left in my ‘unblogged’ folder, so I’ll try and get those up in the meantime. I’m thinking of doing a blogsale to raise funds for my new camera, but with the price of postage these days it makes many of the cheaper polishes more expensive than when you buy them instore, so I’ll have to put some thought into that! Any ideas?

Anyways, before my camera broke, I managed to snap this beautiful lilac holo-duochrome. Super pretty!

A England Princess Tears Purple Holo holographic nail polish adina indie brand uk lilac pale duochrome lavender pink close up Such a gorgeous finish! The polish seems to be a holographic lilac-shimmer polish, it has a lovely duochrome effect with the pinky-lilac shimmer creating this lovely muted finish. I think if you wanted to wear holo in the office, this is the way to do it! I really love how flattering this was on my skin tone, and I think it’s one of those shades that will be flattering for everyone.

Application:

The photos show 2 coats. And the formula was PERFECT – applied smoothly and evenly, no streaking, no dragging, GOSH Holographic eat your heart out! The polish dried quickly, and to a high shine. I’d add a topcoat for longevity if you plan to wear it for a few days. I literally cannot fault this polish, I love everything about it and it is worth every penny of its £9 price tag. The holographic effect is more subtle than that of GOSH Holographic, but when it catches direct light it is more than visible!

A England polishes can be bought from the A England Website, where they cost £9 each, with free shipping worldwide!

I wanted to quickly show you my new hair – the left is the ‘before’ (I’d just woken up – lol) and the right is the ‘after’. I used two bottles of Schwarzkopf ‘Red Passion’. I did this roughly a week ago and it’s already begun to fade back to the original brown, frustratingly!

Today is my 3rd anniversary with my boyfriend Andy. It’s so weird to think 3 years ago today, he took me up to a field by his house to watch a sunset, and that’s where we shared our first kiss <3 time flies. I love you Andy! xxx

Hope you are all having a good day! Let me know what you think about the blogsale idea – how do you think I could make it more cost-effective for you guys? Also does anyone own the Canon EOS 600D – is it a camera you’d recommend?! Thank you so much!

Finally, I am going to try to keep updating my blog until I have my new camera (which could be a week or two, maybe three!) but because I will be using my Andy’s iPod camera, I will probably only post nail art posts as the quality is not as good as I feel a decent polish needs if I am to review it accurately!

Barry M Chameleon Lilac

Barry M have brought us three new ‘Chameleon’ shades – polishes which apply in one colour, then, when you add a clear polish/topcoat, they change to be a different colour. So far I’ve shown you Barry M Chameleon Blue and Barry M Chameleon Pink – today is my favourite: Chameleon Lilac. This effect makes nail art quick and easy, or can change your manicure from day to night so you have a fresh new look with just one slick of topcoat – perfect!

This is the polish as it is first applied. To me it looks like a blend between Barry M Lilac Foil and Silver Foil.

Here, where the darker purple shows, is where I have added topcoat. I have one full coat of topcoat on my ring finger, and on my pinkie finger I sponged on topcoat to give a gradient effect. This is the most colour-accurate photo!

Here, like yesterday, I played around with Barry M Limited Edition Silver Glitter, which had the same effect but with added sparkle. Silver Glitter is still available on the Boots Website, and is apparently due to reappear in Boots sometime in the next 2 weeks!

Barry M Chameleon Lilac Silver Purple Foil chrome romantique china glaze colour change top coat clear nail polish add nail art lillibet close up The initial lilac finish has a chromey element to it – much like the Barry M Foil Effect polishes. It looks amazing even on it’s own! Then when you add topcoat or clear polish it creates a gorgeous Cadbury-purple jelly colour.

Application:

The polish applied well – the photos all show 2 coats out of habit, but the polish was opaque at one coat. Chameleon Lilac does show brushstrokes so be careful to apply the polish in straight lines from cuticle to free-edge. It dried fairly quickly. This one wasn’t as thick as the other two Chameleon polishes.

What do you think? Will you be trying out the Chameleon polishes? They retail at £3.99 in Superdrug, and will be stocked in Boots next Wednesday (13th June!). This one is definitely my favourite of the three.
