Hello everyone! I was lucky enough to be sent a couple of stamping plates and a ‘special nail polish’ by MoYou Nails to review. First of all, I have a confession to make. I have never even attempted stamping before this review, so not only did this provide me with some inspiration for a blogpost, but also with the opportunity to try stamping out for the first time! Exciting stuff. I feel like this is a sacrilege to be written on a nail blog, but there we go!
On the left we have Stamping Plate 125, and on right, Stamping Plate 132.
So for this manicure (a.k.a. my first stamping mani ever!) I have used the Special Stamping Polish in ‘Persian Turquoise’, and the stamping plate 132, which has a selection of floral prints on it. I decided to incorporate all of them together to get a more ‘full’ design. The base colour is China Glaze Lotus Begin. You can probably see the amateur-ness of my efforts in this photo!
I liked this plate; all but the middle design were easy to get off on the stamper and basically user-friendly.
As regards Persian Turquoise Special Nail Polish, I found this worked very well for stamping and was perfectly opaque for my requirements.
Getting slightly better…For this mani I used MoYou Special Nail Polish in Gold, with Stamping Plate 125. The base colour is Barry M Nightshade. I think this is my favourite design of the lot, with the little skulls, lightning bolts, crossbones and thunderclouds – and despite its tiny scale, it was easy to pick up and the effect is fabulous.
In attempt number three I reverted back to old habits where the bats were concerned (amateur-hour!), however I think the other designs fared pretty well, for a novice. Again I used 125, with MoYou Special Nail Polish in Black and in Gold, over a base of China Glaze That’s Shore Bright.
While the patterned designs were pretty easy to get the hang of, I have to confess to being a little disappointed with the bats, which were just too tiny for me. I tried to replicate the design across the nail to make better use of the space, but that’s where it all went horribly wrong – as you can probably tell – with half of them missing their wings and some upside down! Oops!
Overall
In general I really enjoyed the process (despite being a little fiddly!) and would definitely look to MoYou Nails again for stamping products. I think I may need a bit more practice at it though 😉
Let me know what you think of these in the comments!
