I’ve spent the last few days attending interviews and generally wearing office-friendly nail polish, so today it was high time I injected some colour into my life! It came in the form of Hairy Legs London Rainbow Troll. This polish is normally not something I’d choose for myself, Sanita who owns Hairy Legs London added it in as an extra when Royal Mail played up with the postage of Tainted Love (so kind of her!) and to my surprise, I ended up loving it!
You may be old enough to remember the little troll dolls of the 90s, and apparently the 60s, 70s and 80s too (I never knew they existed before the 90s until I did a little reading!) I personally never collected them but around about 90% of my friends were OBSESSED with them! Rainbow Troll is apparently inspired by the Russ Good Luck Rainbow Troll. I’ve Googled it excessively and it still comes up with troll dolls so I *think* that is what they are, hehe! Please correct me if I’m wrong!
This is one coat of Hairy Legs London Rainbow Troll over two coats of Ciaté Pepperminty (I told you I was committed to using EVERYTHING in that advent calendar this time!). I really couldn’t decide on the best base colour for this funky glitter but I think it turned out quite well with Pepperminty. The polish consists of iridescent blue microglitter, blue and green bar glitter, neon pink squares and bright yellow circles. Unfortunately the iridescent blue glitters appear like bubbles in some lights, but I’m fairly sure over a darker base colour this wouldn’t happen. It’s an incredibly unique glitter topcoat though, I’ve NEVER seen anything like it before, which is exciting! I really really love wearing this!
Application:
Rainbow Troll is a little on the thick side but this is handy because it means the brush picks up a lot of glitter, so there is no need for a second coat. It also makes it a little easier to place glitter as it tends to stick in place once it’s there! It dries pretty quickly, and dries a little bit dull and lumpy, so a generous coat of topcoat is recommended. It makes the iridescent glitters really shine when you use topcoat anyway :).
Overall, I have been completely taken by surprise by this polish which I love! It’s broadened my options (not that my options needed broadening, I have WAY too much nail polish hehe).
You can buy Rainbow Troll here for just £7. Definitely worth it in my eyes! This polish is tooooo funky! 😀 It’s also handmade in the UK which is great to support.
