Barry M Tinsel Town (Boots Exclusive Limited Edition)

Bar glitter. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people are on the fence. Count me as on the fence – I love it as long as you don’t layer it up like hair!! Barry M have definitely dealt us the generous hand when it comes to bar glitter this year. We had five Confetti Effects, and now we have two LE bar glitter beauties in Boots and Superdrug. (I have both because I am a long-accepted nail polish hoarder and obsessive! The second I heard these were out I trotted down to Boots & Superdrug!). I’ve seen a fair few blogposts about people hating the look. And plenty of people who love it. I honestly think this one is totally dependent on what you pair it with. If you pair it with shimmer it’s going to clash. If you pair it with anything that doesn’t go with either green, blue or red, it’s going to clash. And if you layer it IT WILL LOOK LIKE HAIR! I promise you!

I decided to pair it with my autumn fave: OPI In The Cable Car-Pool Lane. Burgundy – I tell you, you cannot go wrong with burgundy!!

Can I just insert here how much I love the name Tinsel Town? You could not get a more tinsel-like polish if you tried 🙂 love it! I really like this combo, it has an eye-catching quality without looking like hair (yes I know I can’t stop saying it but I have strong feelings on the matter!) and I truly think you need to wear it at maximum one coat for the effect to look good.

Application:

Tinsel Town applies pretty easily – be careful not to drag the brush too firmly across the nail as this will take the glitter with the brush. Just gently glide over the top and try not to go over too many times. The beauty of this polish is that no-one will notice if you have slightly less glitter on one nail. It dried at average speed, I would recommend using a topcoat anyway so a quick-dry topcoat will speed up the drying process. Some of the glitter will stick up – as you can see from the image on the left, it’s not totally even, but the topcoat will smooth it out. Any hairs glitter hanging off the edge of your nail can be easily trimmed with nail scissors once dry.

What do you think of Tinsel Town? I like it, it reminds me of the funky eyelash jumpers around at the moment, and obviously of tinsel all over the tree… it’s definitely a festive polish!

Tinsel Town is exclusive to Boots for a limited time – you can get it free when you spend £6+ on Barry M currently! Alternatively you can buy it separately for £3.99.
