I did a little bit of simple nail art this weekend using the new Barry M glitter polishes!

Barry M Magenta Glitter
Barry M have released 5 new glitter polishes; Silver Multi Glitter, Aqua Glitter, Gold Glitter, Pink Silver Glitter and Magenta Glitter. Magenta Glitter is Superdrug exclusive, while the others you can find in both Superdrug and Boots.
Magenta Glitter has the same two sizes of glitter as Aqua Glitter, but seems to have less of the larger hexagonal glitter – the polish needs one more coat than Aqua Glitter to be totally opaque.
Barry M Silver Multi Glitter
Here is another of the five new Barry M glitters (Magenta, Aqua, Gold, Pink Silver and Silver Multi Glitter). This one is really interesting and very unique, for me anyway.
Silver Multi Glitter is essentially a multitude of different coloured microglitter crammed into a clear base. I can see blue, pink, yellow, silver… possibly more! What’s really interesting is that despite the multicoloured nature of the polish, it looks like a dull silver glitter from afar; you can only really see the different colours when you look closely. I feel like this is the new Barry M Silver Cascade (rumored to be a dupe of OPI Mad As A Hatter), which is now discontinued – Silver Cascade had larger glitter with more red, green and blue, while Silver Multi Glitter is more along the pastel theme.
Application:
The photos all show 3 coats. The polish was almost foil-esque in that it was too dense at one coat to be used as a topcoat, but still required 3 coats for full opacity. The polish dried quickly, as with most glitters, and dried to the usual grainy texture. I feel that you would need 1-2 coats of topcoat to smooth it out, depending on what topcoat you are using. Removal wasn’t as laborious as with most glitters – it still took some soaking and scrubbing but not quite as much as usual.
What do you think of this one? I really wish the multicoloured aspect of this glitter was more visible in person, as in the close-up, it’s gorgeous when you really look hard, but the trouble is that you have to look really hard to be able to see it. For me it’s worth it because I tend to stare at my nails all day long anyway!
Silver Multi Glitter is available in Boots at £2.99. I haven’t personally seen it in Superdrug yet but it may well be in by the time you read this!

Barry M Aqua Glitter
This is a rather exciting post as it’s my first post with my new Canon 600D! It’s an amazing camera, I am VERY happy with it! 😀
Aside from my camera being new, Barry M have brought out 5 new glitter polishes in Magenta (Superdrug exclusive), Aqua, Gold, Silver Multi and Pink Silver glitter. I just had to buy all of them…
I love love love this polish, I think my favourite finish is at 2 coats though. It also looks amazing as a topcoat – as you can see in the first photo, it’s sparse enough to make a great topcoat then somewhere between 1-2 coats it gets a huge amount of density, lol. The polish has two sizes of glitter – the very aqua-blue microglitter, and the small hexagonal glitter is slightly more pure blue. I love how the two sizes give the glitter a wonderful textured look, it reminds me of mermaids and sea creatures!
Application:
Aqua Glitter is virtually opaque at 3 coats… the photos all show 4 coats to keep them consistent. As with most glitters, the polish dried very quickly. If you aren’t a fan of the grainy finish of most glitters, you will want to use a topcoat, possibly two coats of it, to make it smooth. Removal was average for a glitter – at 4 coats it was very stubborn but not so bad at 2 coats.
As Linzi pointed out on Facebook, this polish is practically identical to Nails Inc. Fitzroy Square – but £8 cheaper! Even down to the glitter sizes. This for me is a very good thing, as there’s no way I can afford £11 per bottle for Nails Inc.
What do you think of this one? I absolutely love it, I feel some mermaid’s tail nail art coming on! I love that Barry M are really getting their teeth into nail polish these days, and really pushing forwards in the UK polish market.
Keep an eye out for the new glitters on here, Silver Multi Glitter is up next!

Flower Tips Nail Art
Here is an easy-peasy bit of nail art for you all! Sorry about the photo quality, this was taken on my phone… I wanted to keep updating my blog as I miss it! Hopefully my new camera will arrive soon. It’s apparently at Heathrow right now, woo!
What I used:
- Models Own Pro Swan Lake
- Barry M Bright Red
- Rio Nail Art Pen in Yellow
- Medium-sized dotting tool
This look is so easy – just one coat of Swan Lake for a little bit of sparkle, then use the dotting tool to make 5 dots around a central point in a flower shape, wait for that to dry and then squeeze out a dot of yellow in the middle of each flower!
What do you think? I like this kind of simple-but-pretty nail art, it only took me about 10 minutes to do both hand and it makes stained tips look very clean and white against the red!
What’s your favourite simple nail art design?
