Cosmetic animal testing is something I wholeheartedly disagree with, on any level. This is just my personal opinion, not intended to be inflammatory in any way, but while I can just about justify medicinal animal testing for the sake of saving lives and improving quality of life, in my mind, cosmetics are completely unnecessary and I absolutely cannot justify any form of testing on animals for cosmetic purposes. People can argue away that it’s for safety reasons but personally, I don’t think that safety for an unnecessary item is remotely justifiable when it comes to using animals bodies for our own vanity.
Now, I am also somewhat of a hypocrite because I do knowingly buy nail polish from companies that I cannot be sure are truly cruelty-free. But, there are certain brands that I refuse to buy from, such as L’Oreal or Maybelline. I won’t go into details why, as this tends to cause argument in my experience, but from all the information I have read regarding these companies I have formed my own opinions and choose to stick by them. I never ever buy other makeup such as mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner etc. from any company which is not BUAV Approved, again for my own reasons, and I will more than willingly give up a few extra pounds to support a cruelty-free company.
Here is my list of trusted cosmetics companies for nails:

- Burt’s Bees
- Color Club
- GOSH
- Nubar
