Barry M Classic Nail Paints – Swatches and Review

Hello everyone! Today I have three simple but beautiful Barry M Nail Paints to show you. These have been released as part of their core line I believe, and as the name suggests (Classic Nail Paints), they are all very classic, timeless colours that flatter and complement without standing out.

These also make the perfect base colours for clear glitter toppers, and also for stamping because they are simple and understated and allow to topper to take centre stage.

Barry M Caspian

Hello everyone! I am unbelievably excited to be showing you the Barry M Aquarium Collection this week. As I’ve mentioned before, we’ve been pinching the pennies for a little while, so things like nail polish have taken a slightly inferior seat recently compared to things like food and rent! However now I’m working and had my first payslip I’ve been able to treat myself to the new collection, which I’ve been lusting after since the moment I saw they were coming out!!

The Aquarium Collection has been the top of my list (you know how I feel about my beloved Barry M!) because while duochromes have been ‘in’ for a good 2 years, brands seem to keep releasing the same colours – however I spotted at least two which look totally unique to me in this collection! So on Friday I visited Boots and Superdrug… because I felt like if I bought 12 polishes in one go I’d be exposed for the true addict I am…! So I got 6 from each (which still raised two sets of eyebrows… but I needed them!!) as they had virtually the same offer on (Boots buy one get one half price and Superdrug two for £6 on all £3.99 Barry M Nail Paints).

Scofflaw Cloud Cuckoo Land

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all well :).

Today I have a nice palate cleanser polish, that happens to also be an indie! Often I tend to go for the WOW factor with indies, or the total glitter bombs… but sometimes it’s nice to have something that’s soft and cute, with a smattering of glitter that’s tasteful and not so in-your-face. This polish is wow, but in a softer more subtle way than a lot of holo-packed, glitter-packed polishes!

I feel like this nail varnish is a great way to wear glitter to work, for more professional jobs. And I know I’ve mentioned this before but I just LOVE the Scofflaw logo design. It really attracts me.

Chubby Owl Polish Midnight Owls

Today I have another UK Indie Polish (expect more of these, I’m a woman on a mission!) to show you. I told you I was determined to get through them! I do have rather a large collection though so indie posts will be interspersed with branded nail polish posts.

This brand is by my lovely friend Jemma, with whom I have essay-long conversations on Facebook! It’s called Chubby Owl Polish – just the cutest name ever – and with the most adorable little logo. The nail polish I’m showing you today unfortunately isn’t on sale any more but Jemma has loads of pretty colourful polishes in the shop on a regular basis, so it’s always worth a look.

**UPDATE** Jemma will be popping Midnight Owls in the shop at the end of this week for anyone who fancies it! 😀 x

A England Princess Tears

Hello all! I’m sorry for being away for a while – my camera has broken and I kind of lost the motivation to blog. I do still have a few old photos left in my ‘unblogged’ folder, so I’ll try and get those up in the meantime. I’m thinking of doing a blogsale to raise funds for my new camera, but with the price of postage these days it makes many of the cheaper polishes more expensive than when you buy them instore, so I’ll have to put some thought into that! Any ideas?

Anyways, before my camera broke, I managed to snap this beautiful lilac holo-duochrome. Super pretty!

A England Princess Tears Purple Holo holographic nail polish adina indie brand uk lilac pale duochrome lavender pink close up Such a gorgeous finish! The polish seems to be a holographic lilac-shimmer polish, it has a lovely duochrome effect with the pinky-lilac shimmer creating this lovely muted finish. I think if you wanted to wear holo in the office, this is the way to do it! I really love how flattering this was on my skin tone, and I think it’s one of those shades that will be flattering for everyone.

Application:

The photos show 2 coats. And the formula was PERFECT – applied smoothly and evenly, no streaking, no dragging, GOSH Holographic eat your heart out! The polish dried quickly, and to a high shine. I’d add a topcoat for longevity if you plan to wear it for a few days. I literally cannot fault this polish, I love everything about it and it is worth every penny of its £9 price tag. The holographic effect is more subtle than that of GOSH Holographic, but when it catches direct light it is more than visible!

A England polishes can be bought from the A England Website, where they cost £9 each, with free shipping worldwide!

I wanted to quickly show you my new hair – the left is the ‘before’ (I’d just woken up – lol) and the right is the ‘after’. I used two bottles of Schwarzkopf ‘Red Passion’. I did this roughly a week ago and it’s already begun to fade back to the original brown, frustratingly!

Today is my 3rd anniversary with my boyfriend Andy. It’s so weird to think 3 years ago today, he took me up to a field by his house to watch a sunset, and that’s where we shared our first kiss <3 time flies. I love you Andy! xxx

Hope you are all having a good day! Let me know what you think about the blogsale idea – how do you think I could make it more cost-effective for you guys? Also does anyone own the Canon EOS 600D – is it a camera you’d recommend?! Thank you so much!

Finally, I am going to try to keep updating my blog until I have my new camera (which could be a week or two, maybe three!) but because I will be using my Andy’s iPod camera, I will probably only post nail art posts as the quality is not as good as I feel a decent polish needs if I am to review it accurately!
