Hey everyone! I deeply apologise for my neglect of the blog lately – I promise more things should be coming this week. Somehow there just aren’t enough hours in the day! However I have been committing to my ‘one-a-week’ schedule for videos, so here is my latest offering. I’m talking through my favourites (of everything – beauty, lifestyle etc!) in this video so I hope you enjoy! 🙂

I’m going to take a little break from blogging. Due to personal life circumstances I’m struggling to cope with now I just can’t enjoy it at all and that for me is when to stop. I’ll be back, I just don’t know when. Thank you all for your support, I’ve loved interacting with you. Take care. x

Models Own Smash Up Polish Silver – Blue/Turquoise Series

I was lucky enough to win the Models Own Twitter competition, celebrating the release of the black and the silver Smash Up polishes. I can’t tell you how excited I was to receive the silver crackle as I’ve been eyeing it up ever since I first heard about it. These two polishes were released on Monday 11th April. The polishes arrived super duper fast, and in a well protected package.
I’ve decided to do a series of posts on the silver shatter over different coloured nail polishes, as I always find it can be a bit hit and miss with certain polishes as to whether or not it will look alright. Today I’m starting with blues/turquoises.

Thumb to pinkie: Illamasqua Viridian, Accessorize Mermaid, 17 Fast Finish Peacock, Marks & Spencer Bright Aqua, Marks & Spencer Duck Egg.

As you can see, none of these polishes show particularly well through the silver.

This one, as you can see, has turned out a bit better. I’m wondering if it’s maybe something to do with shimmer polishes as all of the polishes on my left hand (the first photo) were shimmers. Saying that the M&S; Lagoon has turned out fine. Anyway, the two which turned out the best were Barry M Cyan Blue and Boots 17 Catwalk Couture (basically a dupe of Barry M Pure Turquoise for those interested). So I’m thinking bright is best with this shatter. Looking at the Pirate of the Caribbean collection by OPI I’d say that kind of follows, because none of the pastel shades in that collection show up too well through the silver shatter. I included Nails Inc. Chandos Place in place of Barry M Navy as they’re basically the same but my Navy has gone too gloopy to use.

I really like this shatter polish, it goes (as you can see) with all of these blue shades, and many other colours besides (as you will see if you follow this series!) It’s much thinner than the Barry M shatter polish, which I find to be very gloopy and hard to work with. The Models Own Smash Up, by contrast, gives a very smooth, easy application, and doesn’t dry too fast for you to apply it (cough Barry M). The only difference is that the Models Own polish gives much thinner cracks than the Barry M so less of the base colour shows through.

I will be doing a comparison of the Models Own black shatter with the Barry M black shatter soon. In the meantime I would absolutely recommend the silver shatter, it’s absolutely gorgeous, and most likely identical to the OPI one but a lot cheaper!

EDIT: Just thought I’d mention that the silver itself has a few random pieces of glitter in it very pretty!

Here are 7 things about me!

1. I share my life with the funniest, kindest, most loving man possible. Our age gap is 4 years and 4 months and I could not be happier. Everything about him feels right, he’s everything I could ever have wished for in a man, he’s not only my lover but my best friend and soulmate, I am one lucky girl. <3

2. I didn’t begin my nail polish obsession until early December 2010. How crazy is that? But once I get an obsession it’s stuck for good!

3. I love colourful things, colour makes me happy. I suspect I suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) as I tend to get heavily depressed when the weather gets gloomy and that only really picks up when it’s sunny and warm. I love the colours of spring, summer and autumn, and I love the minimalism of the colours of winter. Such a pretty contrast between all of them.

4. I don’t tend to conform to fashion or fashionability, partly because I don’t like wearing or buying garments that I don’t like, and partly because I can’t really afford to anyway. It’s always nice when things I like come into fashion but my wardrobe doesn’t change according to trend or season, purely because I just like to wear things that I like, things I feel comfortable in, and things which make me feel good.

5. I love music. I mean, I LOVE it. I love nearly all genres out there. I don’t have a favourite band/singer/genre because I don’t like to limit myself. I listen to different music in accordance with my mood at the time 🙂 I play the piano, cello, electric bass and acoustic guitar.

6. I don’t have favourites in general. I think my poor Andy struggles to know what to buy me present-wise because I am just not consistent in my likes and dislikes. The truth is is I like many many things at one point or another, and my fluctuations in likes and dislikes seem to bear no real linkage to any changes in my life. I just can’t explain myself. Lol.

7. I am a real dreamer. Seriously, I dream about 99% of the time, about the future, about what I want to get when we next go to Tesco, about how much I would like this or that food. It does get irritating, an hour into a Chemistry lesson, when I realise everyone else understands and I haven’t heard anything from the moment the teacher started talking. Oops 🙂
