Hey everyone, sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here for a little while, work is just so busy and somehow I have no time for anything other than eating sleeping and recovering from all the loooong shifts! I really need to get the work/life balance back in check. Currently my Andy is in A+E with chest pains and I can’t get there and I’m super worried so I’m writing this blog post to keep myself busy with something l love.
Very soon Barry M will be releasing all 5 of their new Gelly Nail Paints – Blue Grape, Guava, Mango, Key Lime and Passion Fruit – on June 5th in Superdrug, and June 12th in Boots. When the first images of Blue Grape came out I think everyone had it billed for a Nails Inc Baker Street dupe – I don’t have Baker Street myself but from online swatches I think it’s a tad darker but every bit as bright and gorgeous, and obviously around a 3rd of the price at just £3.99. It’s beautiful, honestly one of my favourite blues ever and I’ve worn this about 3 times already which is saying quite a lot!!
Blue Grape is a gorgeous bright cobalt blue jelly… yep, a jelly! It’s quite an opaque one but definitely has that squishy jelly appearance. For some reason on camera my free edge seems a lot more visible than it was in person – I couldn’t see it at all unless I was in direct sunlight. Super gorgeous colour, this one was another one that got quite a few comments from people :).
Application:
One thing I will say is that the brush combined with the formula makes it a tad hard to control the polish, for example painting neatly around the cuticles is a little tricky, but not too bad. The formula is on the thicker side – not too thick but because it dries pretty quickly, you need to apply thin, quick coats. The polish is totally opaque at 2 coats, and dries to a really lovely high shine finish. I would definitely recommend using a topcoat because the formula is one which gets sheetmarks easily – it kind of dries but doesn’t really dry rock hard, so yeah, topcoat recommended!
I am in love with this colour, it’s so bright and gorgeous, I am really happy to have it in my collection. What do you think – Baker Street dupe or not quite close enough for you? For me it satisfies the need!
This will be £3.99 in Superdrug from 5th June , and in Boots from 12th June. I can confirm that I will be buying a backup bottle, lol!
